Lee , that last scene is mesmerizing to me , I keep seeing a 2-6-6-2 coal drag crossing that bridge . You contoured that in a very believable way for the WV Maryland area .

Thanks, Richie...  You mean like this?

Okay, its a 4-6-6-4, and not a coal drag... but what the hay!

Um...that is scary good Lee.....................
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Geez, why do I always seem to have to follow Lee?  Kind of like a shard of glass following a Tiffany bowl . . .

Anywho . . . I started the week doing some decalling for Seuscaboose, who requested a couple of Laurel Valley Ale delivery trucks for his ice house:

Lager on the left, Pale Ale on the right. The flatcar carrying them back departs the BRS tomorrow AM.

After completing that order, I continued my static flock experimentation by mixing 2 parts Late Summer 4mm flock, one part 2mm late Summer flock, and one part Summer flock.  I think the results are much closer to the prototype:

Prototype

I think I need to get some 6mm Late summer flock for the really tall unmowed fields.  Otherwsie, I think I've hit the formula I was looking for.

I experimented with a small patch of "crops".  A dried flower in an arrangement my wife discarded.  It looks OK.  Better in person since the eye is drawn to other things om the section.  More trials are in order.

The last of the trees and ground cover is in, save for a few fill in spots.  Here's the east end of the Black River bridge.

Had a full weekend of trains.  Prototype Modelers meet in Greensboro (Kind of disappointing IMO), the NTRAK meet in Danville, VA (spent a pleasant Saturday afternoon there) and erected the "walls" for the next iteration of the AC&Y layout.

This week I completed two new 2ft x 1ft end modules. I included a track diagram below to help with orientation!

Here you can see the previous center module in combination with both 2ft ends. As construction progresses the non-essential legs will be removed and a curtain for view blocking will be added.

This module represents what will be Mensa paper, Performance Paper Co., Chemcentral and a siding for which to store/sort cars. Each of the businesses listed above came straight from the prototype however I also plan to add an aggregate & lumber transloading area within this as well. On the farthest right hand side in this picture is where Hamburg Ave. crosses the layout.  (refer to track diagram for an idea of industry placement).

Below is where Progressive Rail's transloading facilities will be located in the upper corner. Along the bottom edge (area closest to camera) is where I'll put Crown Cork & Seal Corp. On the left side of this module Highview Ave. will cross the layout.

A final shot of the mainline - for now!

Steve- phenomenal work there!

I played around with some electrical work on the south end of the Binghamton module, cut a new backdrop for my snowy module, and added Z scale couplers and BLMA 100 ton trucks to a pair of MT Ortner hoppers- now back to the Dolphins game....
my best,
Jan

This week I finished painting all the rocks, retaining walls, tunnel portals etc. between Coykendahl, through Farron and on to McRae Canyon.  These occupy the 2nd level of the East Aisle of the Columbia & Western.  I thought instead of detailed photos I would shoot a series of the aisle way in its construction state for orientation.  The Flikr album has the trackplans if anyone is interested in where this stuff is situated operationally on the layout.

Next Week I want to start the ground cover and trees around Pup Creek.  6 1/2 weeks until the open house!

I enjoyed the work week from hell. I was beaten from all angles. This week/weekend I was able to complete the decal work needed for a couple of my projects as well as Suesscaboose PA fleet that I am renumbering. Finished the body work on my truck, it doesnt have a naked hiney anymore. Errands all day Saturday, which included Kleins where I picked up the Maryland Midland SD-24 BN paintouts from Atlas and a couple of the ESM shops Tater-cars. Additionally I picked up a book on the Patapsco and Backrivers Railroad which is totally awesome for $22! Saturday I completed a decoder installation on an Atlas RS unit which left me perplexed...they seem to have a really low topend. Finally I worked the weekend job Friday/Saturday night then all day Sunday for football...I'm still beat!

Well, I've been absent for awhile, but I hope to clear up why this week.  Altoona is currently disassembled and awaiting a new home.  About a week and a half ago, my wife and I hired a contractor to turn this:

I'm not sure I understand this. Why is the floor at such an angle?

So what's wrong with Rolling Rock?
