Pennsy Position light signals

Well now that I have all my track laying done and most of the ballasting finished I'm working on scenery such as structures and trees and such. I'm ready to get around to assembling my TrainCat Pennsy mast signals and was wondering if you guys think fiber optic cable would work with a light source mounted underneath the module right below the signals? I was going to get some Alkem signal boards but there sold out . Has any one tried working with fiber optics and how hard would it be to connect the cable to the light source? as far as the cables coming from the signal board I could bundle them and have them lead to a signal relay cabinet so they look like wires from the signal going into the relay box cause I'm sure that all seven cables wont fit in the small brass mast tubing!  The light source would be in a pennsy configuration and controlled by a computer based detection system.

Get in touch with Jim Hinds at Richmond Signals. He took a bunch of PRR & B&O targets to develop modules using nano-LEDs at the last NSC in Houston.

I am interested in them but having something to use the signals on (a.k.a. a layout) is a good ways off as of yet.  I love the finer appearance of the signals shown on your page for the position signals... I feel like I need to at least stock up on some if they are run again!!!

OK, I finished talking to Jim yesterday about the modules. Jim is concentrating on the N-Trak event at the moment and will get things in gear right after he returns.

I have specified using the new ultra-flat nanos on .016 substrate with integrated resistors. This was the same design I had worked with ISS to develop. Total module thickness should be less than .035. For PRR, the goal will be three targets types. For B&O, current plans are one target and separate lunar modules.

I know I will need several B&O and a few Pennsy! I model the B&O but I have some Conrail operations also. I got a few modules that are hence Conrail modules.

I got the new PCB's in and I am impressed!!

The board has a flat black solder mask as is only .010 thick. Since the LED is mounted upside down and through the PCB, the entire module thickness is only .022. Production modules will have the 38ga magnet wire already attached. There are only four wires to make the bundle smaller than previously available. I will be making other types of modules too, stay tuned.

Those are totally NOT prototype for anything KCS but really HOT nonetheless.  ANy chance we'd see a similar approach to your other signal types?  If the N scale Type Ds came like this - even as kits - I'd be in for ahalf dozen or so.
