Kato has the new CP and UP AC4400 run up on their website...

Good news - the CP's have correct steerable trucks - and the dashed paint scheme...

The UP's have the new yellow frame stripe....

Hopefully this bodes well for the Kato GEVO's....

Another example of a fairly interesting announcement - 2 weeks AFTER the National Train Show.

Can it be assumed that perhaps the manufacturers just don't care about the NTS as a forum for announcements anymore?

More likely that they just didn't want to get buried in the deluge.

That's fairly common thesedays whether it be cars, video games, or just about anything that was traditionally launched at a show/convention/whatever.  There's just too much crap hitting the newswires on those days; its difficult to standout and difficult for consumers to separate the wheat from the chaff.

But, also, I'm sure the fact that with the Internet and online mediums being what they are, there's little benefit for launching at a show anyway.  It's not like they're not going to get coverage by talking about it now rather than then.  On the contrary they're likely to only get far more.

Well, not applause for Kato per se, but this particular prototype.  As many of you know, this has been the first item on my wish list for quite some time.   Kind of like a CR SD40-2 for many of the brethren here.

I am happy it's Kato, but FVM would have been fine too.  I'm easy to please.   :D

Now what was I reading the other day about the sad state of N scale....
