Maybe it would clear things up if they made the logo look like a full freight truck...

mmm.  Maybe not.

Could it be that no one saw the problem because the members of the NMRA have never seen....  the problem?

The logo looks like a breast with 70's-style lettering superimposed.

They say breasts are just like model trains - originally meant for kids, but Dad ends up playing with them..... ;D

It's disappointing the hobby press isn't doing a better job providing coverage, but the question there is, would you pay for said coverage? If not, well, then I think this is as good as we'll ever get, especially if the hands that are feeding are constantly being bitten.

Gotta disagree with the 'would you pay' part... Come on, the reason they're doing the show is marketing. Pay for someone to sell me something? That's a bit bassackwards. It's like all those logo-ed t-shirts people buy... WTF? People are paying the manufacturer to advertise for the manufacturer. How stupid is that? Or how smart (as in deviant) is that?

The manufacturers need to get the word out, and as small as the press is, it behooves the press to report on the releases to spur sales, which in turn promotes the hobby... in turn sells more mags...etcetera, etcetera, etcetera... that's my theory and I'm stickin' with it.

But what small operations have the web operations budget to have someone live tweeting from the show, while they're physically talking to and interacting with potential customers.

Shoot, I doubt that even the larger folks like Atlas have people who have the time at shows like these to even grab sodas for the crew at the booth, let alone update the website.

Yes, I agree, it'd be nice if they did it, but when it comes down to it, these shows are opportunities to interact with real live human beings, the time for the online interaction comes later. Yes, it would be nice if they had folks handling the online PR, managing the message, assuaging commenters who say things like "THAT tender? you've got to be kidding" with something like "yes, that's just there until we get the real one tooled up" or something like that, but given the limited resources that these companies have, they have to prioritize.

If I'm attending the NTS and I have the ability to post messages as I go from booth to booth, maybe I would, but then again more likely I would just enjoy myself and not worry so much about it. I guess I had expectations that there might be more "live" postings but after thinking about it, that was an unrealistic expectation.

The new logos does not look like a boob. I really worry that alot of us really need to be taking more time to notice the female body.

Could it be that no one saw the problem because the members of the NMRA have never seen....  the problem?

Some years back, Bristol-Myers Squibb decided to start capitalizing on the fact that they owned Lance Armstrong's balls, and organized what they called the "Tour of Hope," ostensibly to spread cancer awareness. They spent an obscene amount of money coming up with a logo for the event. The logo was approved by everyone, and made it all the way into a full-page ad in the New York Times. It was only after the logo was exposed to millions of eyeballs that someone made mention of the unfortunate fact that the logo made it look as if it was the "Tour of Hype" instead, which of course was exactly the opposite image that BMS wanted to convey. Would love to have been a fly on the wall to see all of those red faces in the ivory tower...

Exactrail: Did you know that it's Chris Clunes birthday?  Happy Birthday Chris!!!

Back to Walthers for more Snacks!!!!

I took some photos of this amazing new flatcar. But I can't remember the scale or the manufacturer. And unfortunately the photo won't upload.

Here's something for the N-scalers!!!  A wide range of new products announced in "Z" scale. That's almost half the size of N.

Heading for snacks at Walthers now.
