Ok, just looked into the NKP hops -  the NKP cars Bluford is doing represent the Greenville built cars (W&LE 1947) that eventually became N&W Class H42.

Craig, Is it possible to get the numbers for the Conrail release?

Looking at a 1994 ORER, The number pictured 421087 part of a series that contained 1 car in the range (421036-421233)

-- Will this Conrail release be NYC only, or a mixture of NYC and EL numbered cars?

For me.. it would make the different on if I order 1, 6, or 12..

Thanks ~Ian
I'll tell you what Ian, what 12 numbers would you like us to do and we'll do those. I haven't done the final art for this run yet (temp art is what's on the website now) so we'd be happy to do whatever you guys like. :o

I think most CR 70T-ers are going to be found in the early 1980's - I believe they were a target to be "eliminated" to boost per trip tonnage.

The exception were the relatively new ex-EL cars which lasted into the 1990's...  Not too sure many of them ever got CR paint...

Wow what service!!.. Conrail Fans.. time to dig though your pictures and ORERs.. I'm not totally firmiliar with what series came from what roads, looking at the ORER I have, there are other number series with the same tonnage capacity with 100s of cars in the series, but there is no way to know what paint scheme.

I wonder if we could have Craig number the 6 car set based on 1970s/early 1980s photos, then the 3 cars set off late 1980s photos, 2 car set of early 1990s photos, single car off a later 1990 photo.

Just a thought (I'm in for anything that lasted to 1990-1994).. ~Ian

You have to be a little careful in just going from the ORER. Conrail had a number of 12-panel 70 ton hoppers including ex PRR H39 and ex EL HE7E cars and we wouldn't want to do numbers from a 12-panel car on our 14-panel car. NYC and EL had the 14-panel cars originally.

Regarding the CPAA boxcars, that's the as-delivered paint scheme (plus the post-1983 con-stencil.) No logos, just reporting marks on a brown car with silver doors. I'm sure we'd get to that at some point but it's not the most interesting paint scheme on the rails. We haven't done CPAA in the CP Rail action red yet (we did MILW though) and we still need to do the current full name version with CPAA marks. Are you most interested in the brown cars?

Craig, for me anything that would have run in southern Ontario in the late 1980's is of interest. Though I backdated from the current era largely because the pull of what I saw growing up was too strong, those rainbow cuts of 86' cars at Ford in Oakville, Ontario, and those rolling through to GM at Oshawa, ON., and Ste. Therese, PQ,. were a strong draw as well. Your 86' car, of which I own more than 30, is a much needed addition to the fleet in any era. CP between Windsor, ON., and Montreal, PQ., was (and is still) a busy automotive corridor in the late 1980's; autoparts were a large part of that traffic. The MILW's in the CP Rail scheme are too late for my era, so I assume the CPAA's in the CP Rail are as well... though I'd love to be proven wrong

Yup, the brown CPAA's are boring, but needed. I think anyone needing CP 86' cars would have a use for the older CPAA cars regardless of era; the shot I liked to was taken in 2007 so at least one didn't get the CP Rail image. FWIW, I can wait... still no basement.

Because CP used to service a quarry here in Scarborough and I can recall watching SD40's backing 30-40 car cuts of offset side hoppers in CP block, CP script, CP Rail, and TH&B schemes, I shall be buying an assload of those cars as you release them. I'd probably grab an EL or two as well, just because it was such a fine road.

Thanks for the links Ed.
Just a heads up for everyone, the following hoppers arrived at our office yesterday:
Burlington Northern
New York Central
Atlantic Coast Line
Southern Pacific
Bangor & Aroostook
Baltimore & Ohio

In addition, Monday we are expecting the Illinois Central Gulf, Family Lines, and Katy 86' boxcars. We expect to begin shipping to retailers on Tuesday.  Pics of everything can be found on our site.
