For the 1972 merger of Illinois Central and Gulf Mobile & Ohio, the IC's "split rail" logo was modified, joining the two halves and centering the dot above. In 1988, ICG changed their name back to Illinois Central but retained a version of the big I logo. In 1999, Canadian National purchased the IC and these cars joined the greater CN fleet.

Can we make a wish for the cars in EL next????  Please, please, please!!!

Most of EL's 750 70T cars lasted well into Conrail and I think were the only 70 ton hoppers in revenue service into the 1990's...

The EL's aren't "next", but they're coming up.

The ICG boxcars were going into their packages last week so hopefully we'll be able to start shipping in another week or so.

I saw one of those auto parts cars yesterday in MD still in Conrail paint with little graf on it.  Wouldn't you know  - no camera!

I saw a few in Macungie last year...talk about a long lifespan..

I`ll take at least 3 in CR please....

I shot some of the EL hoppers in MOW service on the NS here in Decatur in January 2010.  A little rusty but still being used!
