Interested for sure, though I can't commit yet...

James, FWIW, BNE-LAX round trip: ~$1250 on Quantas/United.  Book now!

Here a snap taken April 8, 2010 which gives a nice overview of Tehachapi's Spring Greens:

Already thinking about it and already mentioned it to the wife. The week after would be better though as it's her birthday and our anniversary in that week.

I could fly into San Fran and pick Chuck up on the way!  ;D

Tempting....

Like Gary, I can't commit at the moment, but getting the chance to see the loop and meet some of you folks would definitely be good!

James if you can prize Chulvis out of his shop for some time to hang with us, go for it! :)

I'm in. Chulvis, SitTainly, James and Gary all at the loop together? That would be way too cool.

Ooh, this is really starting to gel!  You know, Chuck, the Burton place is still for sale: move FRT down south, run it out of the basement and convert the upper floors to a B&B for foamers.  But you'll need a new name: Tehachapi Trains is too obvious, so I propose Tunnel 10 Trains (TTT).   I bet the family would dig that, eh?

Man, that'd be like moving the Giants (or even better, the Yankees) to LA... ::)

P.S. Don't forget Ed.  And where's tehachapifan and engineshop?

One of my closest friends from the UK just made his first pilgrimage to Tehachapi and to say i was jealous does not come close.  His second day on the hill was only a 535 photo marathon!

Some guys have all the luck

Just thought I'd give this thread a little bump....   The other day I picked up a pretty new book on Tehachapi at Caboose Hobbies that I really like, and thought folks might be interested in a link:

(Tell 'em Ed sent ya!   ;) )

Can't wait for the Asshats West photos!  I'm tired of looking at the clowns around here!  Well, I guess Gary would be the common denominator...

It's a nice book Ed - lots of unique views and plenty of aerials, so it is probably the best book for really merging all the individual classic scenes and areas into a complete overview.

Thanks for the tip Ed, I'll be sure to check this out.

Now, 10 points to he who can identify the location of the cover shot.  (Offer void to owners of the book.  "Tehachapi" does not count.)  Hint: the sun is rising.

I'll be sure to bring my Bozo mask... ;D

BTW, it's official: I'm moving to Vancouver Jan 1 to become a permanent member of Asshats West.  Switching coasts and countries.  8)
