Of course the C&O had some STD's! :P

And for the serious answer...yes they owned 5 NE Std cabs from who else? The WM. (Thanks Dave!).

If you look at the paint schemes on the Walther's website, they've got the PC one all wrong... it shows the PENN CENTRAL off center, and the lettering in black.  (The WM and Conrail lettering is shown in black too... I'm assuming that's just a diagram, not the actual colors)

This will be a wait and see product for me.  At least until the pre-production photos turn up.

Lee

The black versus white thing is probably related to ease of diagramming...  Note the COTS on these are all inverted (black outline and text on white background).

I don't have any of the old ones so I'm in for a Conrail (duh!).

Hah! I just looked at the artwork on the N&W one - black lettering on red lol. If it makes it to production that will be one major fup up.

The thing with Walthers is - do they ever even show pre-production pix?

A while back I emailed Wally about the N&W artwork, got a response, and they fixed the artwork at least (still no clue about anything else).

I myself need the body of this thing to combine with the cupola of an Atlas Mangor to create a Norfolk Southern caboose.

Latest Walthers catalog/flyer/propaganda states the caboose will have metal-wheels and shows updated artwork for all the cars produced (the PC car is the correct shade of "green" too, the Penn Central lettering is still off center though) If I had a scanner I'd post a picture...At least thought I'd post an update since we're all wondering.... If the previous holds true this kinda bodes well for a redesigned piece.

There are plenty of opportunities for them only take it part of the way there (ride height, end railings, etc), here's hoping they take it to the finish line!

"but the Magor is the signature C&O caboose."

And C&EI and (platforms a little short, but) MoPac.

"I myself need the body of this thing to combine with the cupola of an Atlas Mangor to create a Norfolk Southern caboose."

The cupola is shorter so you may be better off using the whole roof (not sure how the two compare length wise).  While the prototype were a bit longer a reasonable stand-in should be possible using parts from both.  Would be at least interesting to try, anyways.

New couplers, but really, no glass?  Flanges? Ride height?  Looks like a warmed over turd.

That is an updated pic. nope, no glass, flanges are the same and no change to ride height. But a solid spike in price though.

I hope they enjoy looking at them on their shelf for a long time.  Lifelike already made a million of THEM.  Who the hell is going to pay $20+ for the same crap you can get on Ebay for $6?

Anyone want into the office pool as to when these go on the blowout sale?

Stupid Walthers.  Still don't get it.

The ad states RP25 wheelsets which these don't appear to be.  Maybe it's just a paint sample.

RP25 wheels will just make the ride height look even worse.  I've posted my disdain on their facebook page.

Look fast, I'm sure it will get nuked.
