Exactrail is doing SOU specific waffleside boxcars in HO - although you never know, maybe other scales as well.

Be great is they did these in N.  Saw many, many of these in Potomac Yard in Va and running in PC/Conrail freights on the corridore.  There the cars I was thinking about when Joe asked what we wanted produced.

They had plenty of specific cars... but they also had one that other roads had too.

I have a feeling NandW is right although we should lobby them for an N scale version. I'd be willing to bet the HO'ers are gonna be paying a pretty penny for these.

So this thread pops up, and I start wondering if these are still in service . . . an one rolls by my office buildin gon a CSX through freight!  Lacking camera I have no pics to post however . . .  ???

I have fond memories from when I lived in North Carolina in the early 1990s and Southern Ry. waffle-side box cars were all over the place.  I've seen them in my "Under the Wires" DVD, running on the Port Road in the 1970s, and I still occasionally see them on mainline rails today!  That means, if produced, these cars would be appropriate for many layouts representing eras from the 1970s to present.  That's a large market! ;)
