Gee, Robbman, the walkways in those pictures look too narrow, also  ;D ;D ;D.

I don't know, Robb doesn't usually look at photos or drawings for his work. I've heard he does all his work from memory :-)

Looks pretty spot on to me, but I DO see how the real thing looks kinda odd too.

The hood length looks right.  I think, if anything, the end railings don't go out far enough.  That said,  It looks fine to me.

None of the pictures are straight on like the prototype photos.  From THIS angle, it looks too narrow.

I've remarked on the Atlas Board how nice these look, it's just an observation from someone that's done three CFNR GP15's in HO.

Robb had to adjust his files so the shell would fit the Atlas loco.

Are there any sources for the Mark 4 shells now? I have two that I'd love to be more correct for their Frisco Manderian Orange and White paint.

M4D longhood

M4D longhood

Original Atlas longhood

To be blunt there's only about 0.25mm or 0.5mm difference at most so I think you guys are being overly anal

This is The Railwire, did you expect any less! ;)

I wish I'd got an undec GP15 for the PN, but no spare money now, maybe sometime in the future.

I never noticed the rear walkways were so tight.
There's a shyness found in reason
Apprehensive influence swallow away
You seem to feel abysmal take it
Then you're careful grace for sure
Kinda like the way you're breathing
Kinda like the way you keep looking away

Just curious, as I have the CFNR SD-9s now, did these shells ever become available?

Sorry for digging this up.

Yes they are available but you  have to contact Mark Gasson of Mark4Design. I don't think they are listed on his website.
If I were doing these again I'd file the front of the shell a bit more to give a wee bit more clearance at the backend porch. ;D

The walkways on the former SLSF units I ran when we started up the Wisconsin Northern (WN 1500 and 1501) seemed to have very narrow rear walkways. The other thing they had was a nasty way of making transition above 25 MPH. They would bang and sway hard when that happened giving the feeling that you had just gone on the ground.

It looks to me when compared to the Proto pic that Chris uploaded, the problem lies in the rear anti-climber/handrail area.
It looks like the rear anti-climber sticks out quite considerably.
