Some different styles of covered hoppers would be good to do. There are some styles that have yet to be done.

These "Whitewater Cars" are in great need i see these cars alot and no one has done them. They haul fracturing sand in them here.

The Carbon Black cars would be way cool.

The idea of a decal sheet for multipules is something i have wanted forever.

How about a "U" channel rib 2 bay open hopper?  Literally thousands of 2 bay hoppers were rebuilt by both big and little RR's after WWII using "U" channel ribs.  We have credible rib and offset side hoppers, even a panel side hopper but the "U" channel side, nada.

Agreed on the U-Channel hopper, but this is another model that needs to be released by the ton, not the usual MT trickle...

If they did them in NYC and NH express cars, I'd be in for a bunch.

Gimme C&O baggage express (ex-troop) cars in the tri-color scheme, please.

This is also a great suggestion. I have the parts to do a conversion (having stripped a WM car!) and this photo to show an ARR car on the Milwaukee Road. What could be better?

Best wishes, Dave

However, I did note the commentary regarding X58s...  I would want several road numbers both in PRR and CR, and am not quite sure the MTL model of releasing limited offerings of single road numbers is going to be ideal.

They usually also sell undecs .. I picked up a bunch of MDC undecs, and slowly paint them ..

I would really like to see a practice of issuing decorated cars without road numbers, along with suitable decals for numbering.  My understanding is that MTL is headed in that direction for the heavyweights, so why not freight cars as well?

Midniteflyer,

The middle car was built for Halliburton in 1961 by PS. I believe Halliburton was the only company to own/run these. Plans of the car are featured in the 12/83 issue of RMC. Background states they were numbered 50 - 124, though it's not clear how many actual cars were constructed or where they ran. Drop me a note if you want a PDF copy of the article.

Sorry, but this sounds more like a job for Bob @ TrainCat than for MT, maybe a joint venture between the two. There are numerous roads who used different conversions of the troop sleeper and kitchen cars for head end equipment  - B&O had two versions, C&O had their own, N&W, C&EI, CB&Q, FW&D, C&S, Monon, PM, NKP, NYC, NH, REA, M&StL, B&M, RI, DL&W, EL & Frisco (I may be missing some - PRR? & Milwaukee?) -  and then there were the Alaska boxcars, BAR cabooses, D&RGW dynamometer, and gosh knows what other types of cars these became. This seems like a pretty simple project where car sides, possibly end doors, and some roof vents and decals are all that's needed, not a new body style casting.

I remember Cannonball Car Shops announced back in 2005 they were going to produce brass etched N scale car side kits for all these different types. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like their web site has been updated since 2005, much less the product produced, and the 'announcement' for the N scale etchings can still be found on http://www.mrrwarehouse.com/trpmain.htm  about 1/6 of the way down. But there's no simple way to know if they actually produced these etchings or sell them. It certainly is obvious they didn't try to market them, since no one in the N scale community (including MT) knows about them.
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

Joe, I model "modern" , so any "new" reefer, flatcar, boxcar would be nice.

However, like most folks around here, ride height HAS TO be "right". This issue may not mean anything to a collector or "newbee", but even a newbee after a while will see what all the "discussions" are about. Once noticed, it just sticks out and isn't acceptable for this day and age.

Possibly offering "lowering kits" for 89' flats, autoracks, and others might be an idea. Not sure how profitable, but if incorporated into new releases, maybe feasable.

I have a ton of MTL autoracks and 89' flats, and would buy a "kit" to get them looking better. I would assume the "kit" could be a new underframe, and couplers and trucks too....if needed.

I realize that MTL has "rules" for new models, as you once explained, but bring in a Bluford Shop autoparts car to a meeting, and show everyone how the correct ride height, along with bodymount couplers can be achieved in one model.

Thannks for asking for our opinions

I want a Baldwin Centercab transfer unit- That's oddball enough right? I heard Charlie Vlk has some drawings he is peddling ;)

Anyways, MTL should put out another engine. The FT's were fantastic, just to bad IMRC released one at the same time. I really think MTL could do a good engine release and make plenty of money off of it.

Either that, do a 2-6-6-6, you would have 2 already on pre order from me :).

Either that, do some comets that the commuter trains use.... I could use some of those.
