1) Pullman Standard Waffle side boxcar made from 1969 to 1979 about 10,000 made.

2) I'll second a forty foot plug door ice reefer.

3) Jordan spreader or a snow dozer........

Something
that breaks ride height barriers.  Whatever it is I will probably buy if it rides properly low...

Or at least something that converts easily to a proto height -- like maybe by removing a shim, or some similar idea.   I've always liked the MT tooling & graphics, but I've had a hard time with the ride height.

If you are looking for modern, how about these:

Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

1. 50' and 75' Trailer-Train TOFC's and 35' trailers - would plausibly be found on any RR.

2. The 1958 cu. ft. 2-bay hopper that you currently are doing in Z (both the closed side and open sided versions) - dozens of paint schemes - era from early 1940's until late 1960's, or even later.

Modern......

Waffle side box cars. I know there are many variations, just pick one....

Picture quality is not the best (from a video capture) but you get the idea.

Trinity Hoppers, too many ACF models made. They would need to be in runner packs though. Here is a train of 6351's.

I am a modern guy and was going to post this. As I understand it, though, the UP and BNSF versions are different enough to make it a one owner type car.  Too bad, as I would accept some compromises to fill out my modern fleet.

Hi, Joe.

How about the carbon black car?  This car has been discussed before as a good candidate for a new N scale model.  This is a car that ran on many different railroads all across the country.  There were quite a few owners of these cars and even though nearly all carbon black cars wore the same black paint, there were many lettering schemes - some with rather elaborate stenciling.

There are kits available for the 3000 cubic ft carbon black cars in HO scale from Funaro and Camerlengo:
http://www.fandckits.com/HOFreight/6310.html
and also Rail Shop:
http://www.railshop.net/index.php?cPath=22&osCsid=130ea7cd68a16f65421c6447fc24cdfe

For further info, there are good articles by Martin Lofton in the May 1993 issue of Mainline Modeler and by Ted Culotta in the March 2005 issue of Railroad Model Craftsman.

My own personal choice would be a PS-2Cd 4427 Hi-hip Civered Hopepr. But speaking as someone who has to sell the stuff, people have been asking for a couple of things;

1. More Heavyweight cars, especially baggage cars
2. Greenville Aggregate hopper car.
3. Modern Trinity Cement Covered Hopper
4. Cabeese, NE would be good but also maybe another wood one.

Eastern style Heavyweights, 75' long with single windows
New and improved NE Caboose
X-58 boxes
and I like the Carbon Black cars, too... looks like some flashy paint schemes there...

Northeastern caboose with easily removable cab and correct ride height (So I can do NS cabooses).  I'll go for more heavyweights, too (75' and 80'), although I'll kitbash 'em.
