Russ

Probably
a case of poor commumnication on my part.  I was imagineing more of an etched part that included grilles and the white styrene parts along with the flat front that could be bent to become a 'wrapper'.  I'm no etching expert but his might eliminate a number of fiddley joints in the carbody making a 'cleaner' model...

I gotcha. I thought about doing just that but went the full bash route instead.

Here's the latest...

It's starting to look more like an SP unit with the forward lights and numberboards added....

Thanks, James! :D

I guess I have a couple different threads going where this update is appropriate, so sorry for the repeat info. That said, I started a 3rd SW1500 kitbash too (right) in addition to the MP15AC and SW1500 above. This one will be in the 2400 series (probably 2469) and has the non-recessed gyralights. The middle unit will be in the 2600 series (probably 2679)....

Bringing back the SP light show....one N scale model at a time. SW1500's on the left, MP15AC on the right....

Beautiful Russ.

I'd love SW1500's in N...Espee lights included. Great and inspiring work.

Those SW1500s are looking sharp.  Funny that I can remember the ones used on the Pacific Electric El Monte, Ca., line back in the early-70s back before I moved across the country.  Spent a lot of time with an old friend watching the switcher do its work while the old P.E. tagged wig-wags clanged their bells.  The crew would stop for lunch at the old depot before proceeding east with their few cars... man, that was a great time in my life!!!

I can even remember the time I took my friend was visiting his dad so I took my bike and followed the old P.E. line all the way to San Berdo, track was still in place but severed where it use to cross the Espee line with a connection being made close to the depot.  Oddly with the line severed the searchlight signal facing east still glowed red adjacent to where the crossing use to be and many crossings were still protected by P.E. tagged crossbucks that would never be needed again... with the line also severed on the San Berdo end as well.  Even found an Atlas FM C-liner at a hobby shop close to the other end of the embargoed line, the only one I ever saw in Daylight-paint.

Those were the times... ALCO C415s working the City of Industry, U50Bs and DD35Bs being used for the San Berdo - L.A. transfer, the occasional Rock Island run-through maroon and yellow EMD GP40 or bay window caboose on run-through freights... and the zebra-striped Los Angeles Jct. ALCO S2s and S4s still soldiering on... so, so very much are now all gone including the moving lights on the gray and scarlot... but thankfully a few SW1500s, while not so easy to find, still continue on... I look forward to seeing your models done and thank you for reminding me of a better time in my life!!!  I really needed it!!!

As for my friend Ray... with nearly 3000 miles and forty years apart we are still friends!!!  Heck, its his fault I fell for N-scale in the first place... one of the best decisions I have ever made!!!

Russ,
I'm no diesel guy, and this looks like a really nice model, but I see something, so I had to ask.
Is that large gap ahead of the front truck correct?  It looks almost like the body extends a little too far
over the front truck.
