So far, one team has powered a climber up a nearly-one-mile-high tether. That's a long way from low earth orbit (100-1,000 miles).

I believe the goal is geosynchronous orbit, more like 22,000 miles, if I recall.

a lot of wild speculation on some release that will "raise the roof" ...

Some have mentioned some MILW prototype though I can't imagine anything MILW "raising the roof"  ::) (except for MILW fans!)

Should be interesting this weekend.

I will be there and hope to post photos on Saturday.

For those of you from coming from out of town, one of my favorite restaurants is nearby the State Fairgrounds.

We'll be sure to post plenty of spy photos from the hockey game tonight.  No problem.

Cajun in Milwaukee?? Come on...I'll take meted butter running down to my elbows while I eat a Solly's butter burger instead, please! Leon's custard for dessert! Milwaukee fine dining at its best.

Well that might be what they eat in Milwaukee, but West Allis has more refined tastes!  ;) I'm more of a Culver's man for butter burgers, but Leon's is an all time favorite.
