Sweet shot Lenny.

Recently the Lee Hall VA depot was moved across the tracks because CSX felt that it was unsafe in it's location so close to the tracks. On the ninth, there was a "Celebration" of the Lee hall depot. Luckily, my Dad was hired to play music at the event, which was a worthy reason to tag along.

The Depot.

The local does some switching.

Well, I was in Chicago last weekend for a wedding, which, unfortunately, didn't allow me any time to railfan.  I can say that the plane to Chicago came in low over a few railyards, allowing me to spy some freight action.  Unfortunately, instead of BNSF or UP, which I've never had the opportunity to railfan, I spotted NS and former CR units, you know, stuff I see here on the East Coast.

This picture (of a former Santa Fe property, I presume) is the only railroad-related picture I took.  My apologies for the quality of the shot.  I took it with my cell phone from across the street in Millenium Park:

Had to drive to Harrisburg last Friday in the pouring rain to visit my dad in the hospital.  They did a triple bypass on him.  Anyway for a couple hours visits were not allowed so I ran over to the Amtrak station next door and took some shots.

By the way, my dad's now home and feeling fine.

I while back I posted that they were clearing things out to replace a B&O/CSX bridge in Youngstown. Last time I was there the piers were there

Now all the new spans are in place:

Old left, new right  ;) They are being painted a light gray under the tarps.

It is what 10 mill will buy you:

That's a pretty good looking bridge, Chris.  Not as lacey as the old one, but not bad looking...  Looks like a steady hand with the Xacto and some Evergreen strip stock could whip that up in no time!

I don't know, looks rather European to me. Like a Faller kit or something.

those bridges are everywhere up here.  Here in Boston, the MBTA is double tracking an old branch line that used to have 4 tracks, but had 3 taken out (they do have passing sidings for stations).  The bridges were replaced afterwards and only had one or two tracks across them.  They had to build a second bridge next to the old(er) one for the second track.  (the particular bridge I am talking about isn't very old)  The other bridges will probably be replaced.  The old tracks are still there, but they end at the bridges, and then theres more of it past the bridges.
