Kalmbach has a special magazine coming out shortly on Track.  A Lance Mindheim photo is on the cover.

I'm waiting for it to arrive from across the pond. I expect i will being equally inspired and frustrated as per usual.

the fact that Lance has an article is a bonus, his Monon and Miami layouts are some of the best layouts i have seen.

So I can infer from this that it's a mainly HO-centric rag per usual?

I know, I know...  Many things can translate between scales.  But for things that impact N scale track in particular, I'm thankful for Them Interwebs.  Lee and Ed K both have good N scale track info on their websites as does "Spookshow" Mark.

There was one N scale specific article and it was David Popp showing how he puts down Peco track. I am a little bemused by that because peco really isnt such a great choice anymore. Atlas 55 has come a long way and the peco stuff is very expensive thanks to the sinking dollar..

There were a number of scale neutral articles.. a nice one in particular comparing noise from different roadbed combination although some folks will lament the lack of certain popular options.

Tony Koester's article on using the Central Valley turnout tie strips just continues to make me jealous that their tie strip product is not available in N.. it would be a perfect fit for a scale where spiking really isnt an option..

Yeah, I thought  that was funny!

I have ME code 55 and code 70 in HO and it is amazing track.  Mindheim is right when he says it beats handlaid.

ME code 55 is indeed great - especially the concrete crosstie versin that allows modernists like me to do a credible version of modern track.

I'll be using ME code 55 with wooden ties for he remaining sections of my layout, but with Atlas code 55 switches.  That is unless I come into $$ and end up going to Fast Tracks.

I saw this post and thought it was about a track "problem" coming  ;)  "track issue"

So, is it one of those summed up books, with a bunch of articles from MR?  Or are these new articles?

Haven't received my copy yet.  But in the meantime I've been fooling around with some hand-built & detailed turnouts in HO.  (Sorry no pics yet....)

Does anyone have the full title of the magazine?

The only thing I find at the Kalmbach Homepage is a video pdf file called "Tips for better track and turnouts":-((
"reality distortion field"

That's all I needed to hear, thanks!  My $7.95 is better spent on a Trainman car.
