If I weren't trying to be responsible...

But, since you don't currently have a layout for them to look out of place on:

screw the FEC, this is very tempting...

a quick search shows it's the correct paint scheme for 1967.

 ???

did someone say FEC !

Here's what I'm just completing to bring my Geep 9 up to the 1980's look:

PROTO

This scheme  lasted at least until 1989 on some Geeps.

Steve

The idea seemed so simple............

Nice!  I remember when Atlas announced the release of that FEC scheme on the GP9.  It's very catchy to my eye as well.  But, ooh, supplies are limited!  Only three of each road number left!  Now, let's see, since FEC passenger equipment came through the RF&P in pool service, hmm...  ;D

Oh man, that is hot.

I loved the FEC in the 80s, with that crazy light package, the red and white barricade stripes and the mix of hurricane logo colors.

That's really tempting to try myself.

I plan to add the light package when the parts - to make the parts-  arrive. Most photos I have seen of the units in operation, Only have the bottom set of lights illuminated .. ?
It's a nice variant that updates the factory paint scheme. Cab numbers were from the HO Scale set to get a close size match. Numberboard colors had to be swapped.

I'm looking at doing a similar thing to a Geep 40,  #415, only it gets the Yellow sill and end striping, White logo and cab numbers on side; and no Red/White stripes at all .........

Even smaller roads like FEC have a good amount of variety !

The nose lights were fun, the bottom two were the regular "headlights" while the top pair were oscillating gyralights, with the red mars light.

Getting the working gyralights in there would be AWESOME.

I lived near Melbourne for 3.5 years while stationed at Patrick AFB.  I crossed the FEC every day to and from work.  It's an awesome railroad.  Add to that a drive to Key West alongside the old Overseas Railway bridges and wow...

Screw Conrail.  I'm going FEC!!!

That's why I wrote in another thread that I was seriously considering buying the FEC book on the Overseas Railway.  All those bridges; that's just cool!  Hmm, Chulvis seems to have one copy in stock.  I wonder if he'd work me a deal on it.  ;)

Seriously with all the money they are making on the website biz, how hard is it to hire some 20 something struggling student (like all the others they've hired before) to proofread a page and send it to "print". Maybe add a content editor too.  Don't even get me started on how the whole webpage although pretty works on stoneage techniques of manual updates.

Don't get me wrong I like the site it's where I do 99% of my business but for all it's blessings there are equal annoyances to a once web developer!  ;D

Off topic a bit...when where you stationed at Patrick Dave?   I grew up there while my father was in-charge of a squadron of EC-135N's...   Small world.

I was assigned to the Air Force Technical Applications Center from April 2002 to July 2005.  By the time I was at Patrick the only flying was done by the Reserve wing.  Combat Search and Rescue with some HC-130s and MH-53s.  That, and 45th Space Wing launching rockets and space shuttles up at the Cape.

I did some flying of my own there...  I finished my pilot's license there and ended up serving as safety officer for the Patrick Aero Club.  I mainly flew Piper Warriors.
