As a professional paramedic, I will be sure to bring my trauma gear and enough rubber gloves for everybody., If we don't need them, we can make funny animals like Steve Martin used to.

I only offered to host this because if I didn't see it myself, I'd never believe that Steve would ever build anything...  Seeing him make progress on anything other than idle banter alone will be worth the effort.

And yes, I will let him hold the dumb end of the tape measure...  I want him to feel like he was helping... ;)
I'm also banking on there being enough leftovers to build the 54" X 60" section so I can start working my little expansion project.

If I had any personal days left, I'd be headed up to Jerry's this week for a heaping helping of free track, but that will have to be another day...

make steve brings plenty of level bubbles. Make sure to check if he smells the strawberry scent they have been putting in red chalk.

i have built benchwork before and it's quite level and sound. i own several power tools.  i just don't have the means to rip plywood - i could do it using dimensional lumber, but it's much more expensive.  well, not now since i have to run up to Baltimore and get lunch and pay a toll and drive 1.5 hours to get there.  but it should be a fun time hanging out and talking trains.

i'm planning on that Mexican joint for dinner btw.

I think they start tomorrow.  Any chance of getting some live satellite video feed over Lee's house.  Want to see how many paramedics and ambulence arrive ;D

Upon arrival, the rental fee for using the shop was collected, and immediately put on the grill...


Next, we did the obligatory finger inventory.  Apparently Steve had already lost a couple of digits because he had to tie his shoes today... Usually he uses velcro for safety...



"Dammit... I cut that piece too short.  Maybe if we trim back the tape measure a he won't notice..."


"This stupid thing doesn't work....  HEY!  Why is it making that noise?!?"


Steve:  "Hey, give me some more of that glue"
Lee:  "Hold on, I'm diggin' it out now!"


"Hmmm... Now what?  L&HR?  B&O?  PRR?  EJ&E?  TP&W?  Ma & Pa?....  Maple syrup?  Side of scrapple?....

After a day of hard labor, we wrapped up around 3, then headed down to Delmar to inspect the club layouts, and see what NS had laying around...


Here we are by the PRR caboose in Delmar.  Apparently Lee and Steve simultaneously erupted with the fragrant aftermath of those Polocks...


Steve is thinking about modeling NS in the modern era....


But it quickly passes when he realizes that with the benchwork already in the car, odds of squeezing in a 1:1 SD40-2 are longer than usual...

After our side trip, we enjoyed the fine cuisine at Plaza Tapatia...  Then I packed the boys off safely to their respective homes.  It was a fun productive day.  Now we'll have to see what Steve comes up with now that he has some frames built...
