I am saddened and very sorry to hear of the passing of Gregg. I had some communications with him over the years, some heated, but at the end of it all, we could laugh about it. He was a knowledgeable man and more than willing to share it with others. He will be missed. My condolences to his family.

My condolences to Gregg's family and friends . Every week I was an avid watcher of his pictures of the past . I will miss him .   :(

My heart literally skipped a beat when I saw the thread title only to have it confirmed. Although I did not know Gregg as well as some of you did, Gregg and I emailed each other frequently. It was my honor to finally meet Gregg in Louisville and have a conversation with him in person. I have to agree with all who have said we here on RailWire, and N-Scale in general, have lost a kind soul with a lot of talent and knowledge.

Gregg, thank you for your friendship and making this hobby better by you being in it.

I don't know what to say.

Gregg has always helped me out and there are several of my models that have parts from him. There is all the knowledge that he shared with us. And the best part about his photos was him remembering taking each one, who wouldn't have wanted to be there as well? He would put up with my bad spelling and grammar. I also remember Gregg liked to run his reefers with the hatches opened.







He will be missed by many.

I still have a couple of the old Model Power boxcars, repainted, and re done with wooden roofwalks and brakewheels as per his article in an early issue of N Scale Magazine. Farewell to a REAL model railroader.

I sold a loco to Gregg last year and got a nice letter from him in return.  Never meet him but I enjoyed his photos and stories of railroading.  My heart goes out to his family.  Another great PRR modeler is gone but will not be forgotten.

Sad to hear he's gone. In addition to his knowledge, his great photography and simply HIMSELF, I'll miss his railroad stories. It was always a wonderful read.

Gregg will sorely be missed around here. I really enjoyed when he would relate a model subject to an actual real like railroad situation. Gave you a great perspective to work with

To the Mahlkov family goes my sincerest condolences . You were very fortunate to have Gregg as part of your family as you already know . A real straight shooter  , stand-up guy , and gentleman . John Wayne & Ronald Reagan would have liked him , and now they have somebody to teach them a thing or two about trains . I am so sorry for your loss .

Saddest thing I've heard for a long time.

Gregg was a true gentleman, a great N scaler and so often a voice of reason on these forums. I always looked forward to his vintage photographic contributions to the Thursday Proto Photo Topic and his ability to think outside the 'jewel' box e.g. his interest in the Dapol British N gauge products I found most endearing.

He will be sorely missed.
