The good news is that it looks like sturdy handrails - not the "thin spaghetti" IM used on the tunnel motors...

It looks spray painted silver like you see on Atlas and IM pre-production models - why do they do that?

I guess you could put a kato mechanism under it...

Why would you do that...? Are we assuming a sub standard motor and mech....? I really hope not at this early stage....

Now why would you guys think that Kato already had the GEVO in their stable. I'd be willing to bet they had the Cadwork done, but weren't even close on the tooling. They even said at Trainfest last year that the SD70ACE was always first and they weren't planning to do GEVO's anytime in the near future. Some of you guys can be real conspiracy theorist when ya' wanna be. Matt beat everybody and I';d be willing to bet that Kato knew he was working on one.

Sorry if I don't buy this Kool-aid....

My record on loco purchases is 95% positive with Kato;   50% with Atlas and  0% with IM. It took Kato and Atlas years to get to where they are now.  The Tunnel Motor was going to be the end all be all of all models of all time.  Ha!

FVM has done a couple of boxcars - with lots of questionable graphics and a major ride height issue. Nice - and worth the money, but not earth shattering - and really not as nice as the IM boxcars which at least have the doors done correctly. Definitely not as nice as ExactRail, or Atlas or Deluxe Innovations or Kato or MicroTrains though.

So I am to suspend reality and believe this will be a ball hit out of the park on the first hit??

Come on!

That to just to throw people off, there next loco will be EMD SD70-M2 for NS, FEC and CN.

Or they are doing the other GEVO power engine, CSX's AC6000.

The AC6000 was not part of the evolution series...

Shoot, I'd be happy if Kato would redo their U boats or C boats.

As far as people cheering for FVM, I think you should take into account the underdog factor.

I really WANT to see them send these out of the park. What have the issues been with the other cars? I know there was the rib side end issue, but I think that's a non-issue because they have backed up the model with photo evidence.

What other issues have there been (aside from the ride height thing)?

As far as the prime mover is consert, they are now. GE is changing all the HDL prime movers to GEVO 16 on all of the AC6000 that CSX owns. UP is putting FDL on theres.

Well, actually GE AC6000 would fit in that list in the sorting order.   But isn't it a longer frame as well as many other potential problems.

Yeah, I know the underdog thing - but in a sense Kato is the underdog here, since everyone roots against them.

BTW, I have heard that Kato is announcing something else at this show - besides the El Capitan train.
