My money is on a smaller, established, high quality and very reliable manufacturer that has personal experience in this area.  Attention to detail and a wide range appeal of the company's products is part of their reputation.  I own many of the products produced by the company I'm betting on.  Time will tell shortly.   8)

CONGRATS !

Maybe the most interesting thing is the information that can be gleened from these 21 pages (well OK - after being sifted) !
Interesting how the 'manufacturers' are preceived by modelers, at least this group.

It's not that important .. after all, we are just a rounding error ..

So much for the "it's not one of the small one-man operations" theory.

I hope FVM doesn't "mail it in" on the GEVO's like they have with the RD4 hoppers.  (I can't speak to the Milw cars as I haven't seen them.)
NOTE: I'm no longer active on this forum.   If you need to contact me, use the e-mail address (or visit the website link) attached to this username.  Thanks.

As I said yesterday when I learned this, my head exploded...

I'm going to keep my mouth shut on this... I'm sure Kato is going to do this too, so I have no cats in this cat condo or whatever!

If you bet the house on this, you'll be on the street soon.

You know Tom, I couldn't seem to find the post you quote on page 1 (or anywhere else for that matter)...

 ;)

However, I did find this...
Well, since everyone else has chimed in with their 2-cents worth, I might as well add mine too...

 (snip)

My "out of left field" guess for who I think might be doing these is Fox Valley Models; they seem to be doing very well in the N-scale freight car business, Matt indicated in when I talked to him at the various conventions that he'd like to eventually due locomotives if the freight cars did well and he certainly has the contacts from his time at Intermountain, and finally because Kirk Reddie (who publishes N-Scale Railroading) writes the N Horizons column in The N-Scale Collector magazine, and he his last column said "Matt says he's working on additional products and to stay tuned for the next big thing this summer.  Well, the GEVO would definately be a "big thing" and I think FVM could pull it off!

With the cat out of the bag, it makes me wonder - did the other manufacturers know that FVM was working on this ?
Since most models seem to be made by one/two companies in China, wouldn't it be hard to keep a lid on it ?
Would FVM, really, work on this with out some 'gentleman's conversations' with at least KATO and/or Atlas, maybe IM ?
 ???

I was told they were working on one over a year ago... I assume people who are in the industry knew. (unless they're under a rock)

OK, makes sense. (are you 'in the industry").

That being the case, then, there are those (besides the specific manufacturer) with knowledge of what is 'in the works' for the next year !

Cool  :D
