Tower 55

can't be used w/o permission from Tower Recrods. That's why OMI changed the name to T55

I'm not sure I get why Tower has a claim to "Tower 55".  I couldn't find any particular "Tower 55" marketing or other use of it on Tower's website.  If they are claiming they own "Tower" in any iteration, I think that Eiffel, Pisa, Sears, et al would have some problem with that.

I'm guessing it was simply a matter of "T55" not wanting to waste money on a lawyer?   Hmmm...UP owns Tower 55 in Fort Worth, maybe we should poke the bear and see what happens.  UP and Tower's lawyers could be filing inappropriate, frivelous lawsuits at each other for years!

Back to the topic at hand, I'm actually leaning toward Atlas at this time...

"If that isn't cool enough, we will have new announcements [at the Hartford NTS], including something we've been working on for a while that is a revolutionary FIRST for the industry! Keep tabs on our website for additional information in the coming weeks!"

I would be delighted if it is Craig, but he has also been promising new N scale signals which *could* be revolutionary, especially if they have scale fidelity and novel control electronics.  However, if it is a loco, what would it take to qualify as revolutionary?  Here is my (incomplete) short list

0. On-board power (not going to happen)
1. On-board reserve power (capacitive storage, like some of the large-scale guys have)
2. On-board treble sound coupled to under-layout bass (a la SurroundTrax - that's the sound package I'm waiting for)
3. Rigid scale handrails, e.g. one-piece etched stainless steel stanchion assembly with wire rails
4. Spinning radiator fans
5...

Some more:

- micro linear drive traction motors (one per axle, AC or DC drive depending on prototype)
- front mounted grade crossing accident recording camera
- multichannel radios, satellite uplink with wifi
- safety glass glazings
- fully functional liquid cooled radiator and fans
- prototype specific crew seating and coffee maker (canadian models only)
- integrated DPU capability, using new secure, encrypted over-the-air 9.4 Ghz DCC link
- high fidelity prototype specific weathering, using pigments derived from locally
occurring dirt, dust and air pollution (regional specific, per road number, based on unit
  assignments)

I'd be happy if they would just get rid of cast-on grabirons....

What
is he record over at Atlas?  I'm thinking it was three pages sometime in the deep dark past.  Lately its seldom more than ten actual posts before things get out of hand...

By the way, cross off BLMA...    8)

That leaves - BLI, Atlas and Kato.

Forget BLI, so that leaves Atlas and Kato.

The Vlk comment screams "Kato" - but the silence at atlasrr.com yells "Atlas".

Atlas just plain doesn't talk product pipeline. So that would not be a qualifier or disqualifier.

I'll stick with my 3 choice before they get out of the gate over there. Exactrail, FVM or DI(extreme darkhorse).

14 pages, we all love a mystery.

What
have we heard lately in N scale from Walthers/LL?  Perhaps its finally time to build on the GP60 success and bcome a player in Nscale once again...

It seems strange that Atlas would choose to use this type of marketing. Same goes for Kato. They announce and people buy, period. They don't need to generate a buzz to move product via this type of publicity stunt. Seems out of character for both.

Unless the release is intended to discourage anyone else...
