Good point...

But what was Chulvis talking about last week with Kato and "secret" thingamabobs, etc...

Maybe it's a joint Atlas-Kato project?

How about a dream team: a Fox Valley shell on a Kato mechanism?   :D

Now I may regret saying this; but as excited as I am about this release (assuming it lives up to the hype), Steve's montage demonstrates that a GEVO isn't really all that different from an AC4400 in appearance...  There, I said it!  ;)

Steve's montage demonstrates that a GEVO isn't really all that different from an AC4400 in appearance...

Especially in a typical model shot:

It will not be DeLuxe.

Interestingly, BLMA's summer newsletter arrived today with the following tidbit:
"If that isn't cool enough, we will have new announcements [at the Hartford NTS], including something we've been working on for a while that is a revolutionary FIRST for the industry! Keep tabs on our website for additional information in the coming weeks!"

The plot thickens....

I place my bet on BLMA just because of this email newsletter I received today.

 BLMA Models Early Summer Newsletter

You know him as the host of the History Channel's show Extreme Trains, and now you can meet him in person - only at the BLMA Models booth! Matt will join our team on Friday and Saturday during the National Train Show, July 10-12, in Hartford, Connecticut. We will have a limited number of Extreme Trains DVD's - the complete first season - on sale for Matt to autograph. Bring the whole family and say hi!

If that isn't cool enough, we will have new announcements, including something we've been working on for a while that is a revolutionary FIRST for the industry! Keep tabs on our website for additional information in the coming weeks!

Lastly, I would like to sincerely thank everyone who continues to support BLMA Models. Our first freight car release, the Norfolk Southern TopGon, was completely sold out before the cars arrived. With such a great start on rolling stock, you can bet we will have more great models coming soon.

See you in Connecticut!

But the insiders all say the announcement is the 18th...

And really, why bother having Matt for an N-scale only announcement?

And how does it tie into "Blueprint of Excellence" or whatever.

I just can't imagine why someone who has the ability to pull off hot, fast projects would burden themselves with the nightmare of being a locomotive maker - with all the additional complexity, service issues, technical issues, return issues, etc....

If you disagree - I suggest you go over to Trainorders and search "Tower 55". "Blueprint of Doom" is more like it.

BTW,  Bob's comment up there about injection molded plastic...

No one has even suggested that this is just a brass kit that fits on a Kato chassis in some way. Or resin or Perfactory "build to order" - pretty revolutionary....

 ;D  Am I getting closer?????

Not from me ....

Guys, connect the dots!

  • Chulvis Started the thread and is a big supporter of Craig
  • Skibbie says he knows and is a big supporter of Craig
  • Steve4 says he knows and is a big supporter of Craig
  • Robbman says he knows and is a big supporter of Craig

All of them have started threads for Craig's new items. It has been staring at you.

Could be BLMA. Nobody "in the know" ever put a date on WHEN it would be announced and the N scale is not nearly the stage that the NTS show is. Although I truly wonder what "revolutionary FIRST" would apply to a loco. Tungsten body so it weighs more than depleted uranium? A camera in the nose? Craigs email makes things more interesting, not necessarily as far as an engine is concerned as much as what cool thing wonder boy dreamed up this time. Oh to be under 30 again.....even under 40 again.

Interesting, I never said I know.  Robbman made an interesting claim that I know... but seeing as how he hasn't talked to me, I don't know where he's getting his information.  My guess is he's trying to call me out, but only because he's still holding a grudge about the ribside boxcar's thread. Or it is BLMA and he presumes Craig told me too.

Vlk Industries!

Actually, I don't think it's a good ad anymore:  every company probably got equal attention and website traffic from it  ;D ;D ;D

Best Little Mystery Around........

Since I haven't seen the magazine yet..... can someone confirm what is the content of page 59 above the blueprint. Is it a BLMA ad or a magazine product review?

Is the ad to cause buzz - or pre-empt another announcement?

Does the magazine always come out on a predictable date?

Is there another BLMA ad in the magazine?

Is there another name pointing at Page 59 in the ad index???

No, there ids no pre-empting, there is no need to. Mnay will talk to each other, and besides Kato does what Kato does. Kirk has gotten to be pretty on time with his issues. I would suspect it was put in this issue for a specific announcement, but maybe not this week or at any show, although a big splash at a major show would get some up close and personal attention from a few hundred or few thousand people.
