Why do you think that a new startup company would choose this prototype?

Because they can sell as many as they can make   ;D And George was WAY wrong ;D ;D :o :-X

Are there differences between the AC and DC versions?

Yes, the ones that stand out is the dynamic brake intakes.

Sandro on Trainboard calims he knows and made a list of who is not. BLMA, FVM, Exactrail and Blunford are not on that list.

It must be that thin Swiss mountain air...    ;D

Put Bluford, FVM and BLMA on his list.

That leaves Exactrail and Robbmann!!!

I'm not gonna believe anybody who works for or is involved with PWRS. Until the announcement is made, whenever that is, all players are in the field. Although I am a little concerened that it is North American Railcar and we know how they operate and that would be REALLY BAD NEWS for N scalers who want them.

The GEVO is now more doable mainly because there are now a bunch of roads that have the various versions. The SD40-2's are now on their way out big time as well as the Dash 8's. But if you want variety, look at the various Genset manufacurer's and how many schemes they are showing up in.

One odd tidbit here...

NscaleDivision sells Exactrail (one of the few e-tailers that do)

About 2-3 months ago, they had a posting to the effect (sorry I don't remember the exact wording) "If you like modern locomotives, like GEVO's subscribe to this email list".

Exactrail is (apparently?) not at the NSC, which would make the venue for announcement the NTS.

Does PWRS sell exactrail stuff?

Then that would make it NARC/PWRS, wouldn't it?

Not necessarily. But if it is that would be EXTREMELY bad.

That was on his list, an if its that would really blow.

Would make me glad I'm in the 80's... $200 dollar locomotive. I would not discount what Sandro says, he alluded to me a little over a year ago that we'd be seeing SD40-2W's in N scale.
