Thought you might like this link to a shot of an Erie caboose.
Not sure if it's authentic but you being the Erie buff I'm sure
you can tell if it is or not.
Looks really nice!!

Looks real to me:

Looks much better in Erie lettering though  :)  They lasted well into the diesel era.

I'm working on 4 of these:

Some day I will get to the decals  ::)

Look like some nice work.  How did you make them?

How did you make them

My CAD drawing and Robert Ray's laser.  The window frames are made from a new product called "laserboard" it is like a thick paper that is soaked through with a sort of glue or resin. Robert says it lasers great and it works well for thin brittle stuff. The rest of the body is wood. Steps are cut from MDC/Athearn 50' passenger cars. Brake gear is from the Atlas parts dept. I have all the end rails/ladders etched and built up, but haven't attached them yet. I need to get back to these soon...

That is very similar to a caboose I was developing too. I put the project on hold. Hopefully I can get back to it when I am done with the steel book.
I am familiar with the laser board. I am starting to use a similar product from a different vendor. The vendor I am using offers multiple thicknesses.

This stuff was around .012" thick. Wood would have came out to about .015" thick and of course be more brittle.

Do you mind me asking the new supplier? I'm sure Robert would be interested in something new to play with.

I think the manufacture is the same, just a different vendor. NE Scale lumber markets it as lazerboard. I order direct from  the manufacturer.
