Could it be that the door tracks are correct for a CN version?

Only if the doors don't need to open all the way without falling off.   :D

Looks like the ride height in HO isn't that much better:

...and you don't even get ladders on the HO car.  ;)

Here's an oblique shot of CPI 85399 (earlier version of CP 85399?) showing the same issues.  On this day, let me be thankful that 1) I'm not in the market for this car, and 2) I'm not a manufacturer of model trains.    :P

Are these MT cars?

No, these are new tooling by Hobbycraft Canada under their True Line Trains branding.......

The ladders on the Proto1000 car in HO are separately applied parts.

And yes, the CPI 85001-85499 cars were renumbered by removing the "I" in the early 1980s. The original factory paint job on the CPI cars was green with the black sill and the multimark to the "B" end on each side. Later repaints didn't bother painting the side sill black, and multimark positioning could vary all over the place. Non-multimark versions are post-1988.

Well, I'm going to have to make them work...  these were extremely common on 1990's Conrail, usually a string of CN, CV and DWP cars. In all honesty I don't remember too many of the CP versions of these cars down here.

I thought the Walthers site said these were due in October?

Ah ha....   I thought the problem was cosmetic - it would actually be a functional error.

Why are there ANY tracks on the LEFT side???

It appears the reporting marks artwork is properly arranged though.

I have to say, the only thing about these models that gives ME pause is the price...  The rest of the issues seem workable...

With all their issues, if it's more than those blue box lifelike cars, I'm going to be passing.

True that Ed, I just cant see spending over $20 for a boxcar then having to work on it to make it presentable. I`d love to have some, but I`m passing

You've gotta wonder how they could mess it up. But anything beyond undecorated is cause for concern  ;)

True-Line dished out the money and did the design... so we should just suck it up and pay whatever they're charging... my god man, what's wrong with you... thinking a model should at least look like the prototype...

A judgement call on the artistic side of tooling is a little different than putting the door track in the wrong location, no?  Man, I've never seen you so butt-hurt before.   :-*

A few more shots of them from post at the A Board:

Weak that they messed up the door rail, but since the doors don't open I can live with it. Ride height certainly needs work.
