This week, the last of Pittsburgh, and a dinky freight motor in Norwalk, Ct. We were looking for the "Black Maria" in Norwalk, but if it was there, it was inside. It was the first electric locomotive, used on the L&WV.

PRC PCC 1236, running on the Dormont line, emerges from the Mt. Washington tunnel on August 31, 1957:

Ponemah Mills in Norwalk had a fairly extensive electic in plant railroad, service by the orioginal electic freight motor and this "privy on wheels", shown with train of truss-rod flat car and boxcar caboose in September 1961.

Next week, we visit Public Service Coordinated Transport's Newark, NJ, Subway.

I got to ride in a PCC in Pittsburgh back in the late 80's...  Was the Dormont line one of the last active ones?

It may be one of the lines in the South Hills that was rebuilt for LRV operation. I haven't been there since then, except to change trains in 1964, when I was transferred by the PRR from New Orleans to Cleveland. It was the middle of the night and I never left the platform

That would be it.  My aunt lives in South Hills...  I remember running the tunnel.

I bought this photo on e-bay:

It was taken in Youngstown next to the Erie engine house, the rest of the story is here:
