Hi Jeff, those are incredible.  ;)  8)

How do you get that peeling paint look?  Are there any specific colors, brush techniques, masking, that work best?

Thanks,
Ed

Luv that Seaboard hopper and the schizophrenic application of the reflective stripes!

This latest batch is some awesome stuff (even if it is extra-large :) ). The couplers are the only giveaway that these are models.

Actually, by "extra-large" I meant that you indicated the locomotive is HO-scale, not that the pictures were oversize. :)

I keep my pictures down to 600 pixels wide, but I'm hyper-conservative in that regard. It comes of doing web development in the 1990s, when 640x480 screens were still fairly common. When I need to go bigger, I post a link to the larger photo.

ED!

I'm sorry Ed. I'm constantly organizing things out of existence! I'll figure out which
ones they were and add a few cars from 2010. I didn't expect this ancient thread to
rise again! Haha. Stand by...

Jeff (MrKLUKE)

Thanks Jeff for restoring the pictures, and for the new ones too!  I was reading your notes about how you did the rubber cement masking, and w/o the pix I felt like I was walking thru an art gallery blindfolded ;)   BTW don't write off these 'ancient threads' - they are like gold to folks like me, and for newcomers of course they are as good as the day they are posted.

At risk of sounding greedy (call me insatiable at least ;) ), I would love to hear more details about how you did the inside of the gon with the powders (washes? layers? hairspray/Dullcote sealers? other?), if you feel so inclined.  That is one truly impressive bit of work - I esp. love the way you did the 'worn thru' look on the edges of the top sills.

I am a huge fan of all your work, (and have been inspired to try my own peelers- I am happy with them but yours are way better!) but that new gondola really stands out as strikingly awesome, not that you need my humble approval, but WELL DONE!!!
