All three shots today are of Niagara Junction 19 switching at the Hyde Park Blvd. yard in Niagara Falls, NY, on Sept. 18, 1964.

Next week, NJ 9, a 1938 standard interurban Baldwin-Westinghouse steeplecab.

I made it to Charlottesville VA last weekend.

One of the few trains on the North Mountain sub lumbers through downtown.

Buckingham Branch 10 sits on the siding as it passes.

This is not my picture, but belongs to Harold Hodnett. It did make me realize that RailBox cars may be hard to spot for a while since being pool cars, they are going into storage instead of the system cars. Harold reported that ther were over a 100 RailBox cars and it looks like they were all tagged alike too.

When I was with the Rairwire gang last Friday, I didn't have any decent equipment for night shots.  This is the best I could do.  Don't even remember which train this was.

I was at the VA Museum of Transportation today and watched one particular NS manifest go through with two long strings of Railbox cars on it. Most, if not all, were empty, with 3 boxcars having at least one door wide open. I had never seen a train go through with open box car doors. I wonder if these too were headed to some forgotten track in the middle of nowhere.

I've seen lots of empty boxcars with sliding doors left wide open in transit.
