I dare say these look a little too blotchy, although I'm sure you could find a proto photo that shows this or worse.

But to me, weathering is like adding seasoning to food...  It's best done to taste by the cook.  Factory processed foods are almost always too salty, bland, spicy... what have you.  Rarely are they "just right".

I'll keep doing me own, thank, you.

So the taggers are now using stepladders?

The shiny trucks/couplers look great too   :D

As for the high tagging , might that not happen if the car was at a loading dock ?

How dare you call it absurd.  Joe just posted over at Atlas about how hard he tried, and that he did his best. We're being too mean.

I think you and others were also . A more tactful corrective criticism could have been used IMO , than being so embarrassingly harsh . Yes I have wrongly thrown my own stones needlessly . You are entitled to vent as you see fit though .

Maybe it's time for MT to hire this guy:

This is just stating the obvious, but the passionate reaction that MT elicits from many of us is born in the fact that when N scale was young (and many of us were too), Kadee/MT pretty much single-handedly brought N scale into the realm of fine scale modeling. Now they are pretty much single-handedly driving their business to the realm of toys.  It's like being dumped by your first girl friend, for the guy with the shiny car 8), because you're too "serious".  Then you see them driving around town every month, having the time of their lives.   Fortunately we serious types found other dates.   :D

Ahhh...  So that's MT's weathering crew...

I read the A-board thread, and I can understand Joe's frustration.  I can't fault the man for trying.  But the execution, that's the problem...

Like many on this board I use MTL cars when they're close enough...  but wish MTL could focus on more typical cars for operators instead of one-offs and collectors cars.  I see this excursion into pre-weathering as a further distraction from that.

THAT SAID, I would like to see more re-stencil and patch jobs.
