Here's a learning point for all of you out there. When a P42 slams into the back of a 42 car freight train, believe it or not, the Bowser N5C fares much better than the locomotive... I think Kato designed in some "crumple zones" for crew safety.

I think that P42 was built by Timex. It took a licking but kept on ticking.

Ricky Gates lived just up the road in Parkville. Must be something in the water.

As long as it's not permanently damaged then. Did he really? Is he still in jail?

Y'know, I'd really rather see good still photography of y'all's layout than out of focus YouTube movie clips. After all, everyone knows your trains do run... ;D ;D ;D

Just, IMHO, though.

We have those too .. but .. if you look close in the third video you can see my fat butt climbing under the rope line. Our oneTrak loop connects to the red line (outside track) and I periodically venture out there to run the entire layout .. problem is, you have to run 1T outside of the pit, which is actually good for interacting with visitors .. so, to follow your train around, requires walking along the outside .. but .. I guess I need the exercise :)

Ed,

How long is the layout going to be on display?  I may have the opportunity to get there next weekend, if it's still set up.

Sorry if the quality is not that of a professional.  Most of us have to do the best we can with what we have available.

For those who may be interested, here are a few from Sunday 12/28/2008:

thanks for getting the derailment on film, it should prove useful in the suit against the manufacturer and contractor who installed the turnout.  our claims department will be sending over agents to collect the film.  here's a picture of them:
