Guess the transition modelers will have to take the month off from Atlas.

For Pennsy, Kato's announced a third GG1.... a tuscan red five striper!

Not to hijack this Atlas thread but I never understood. Isn't the Brunswick green the freight color? Yet Kato released a set of what, 10 + 4 + 4 singles of tuscan red passenger cars. If one wanted to have a GG1 pulling them, wouldn't this finally announced tuscan be the engine to use vs. the Brunswick green ones they've already done/announced?

No, what you are saying applied only to Diesels, and not to all of them. Virtually all PRR passenger Diesels came painted DGLE, which you call Brunswick green. In 1954, PRR began painting passenger Diesels tuscan red, and a couple of switchers got it, too. The GG1 was always considered a dual service locomotive and only a relative handful were ever painted tuscan red. This was done both on the earlier 5 stripe and the later single stripe schemes. About 5 got painted silver with red stripes and lettering under the single stripe scheme, too.

The "special" paint jobs were assigned to top trains.

Oh Boy Ford Exploders. My dad purchased either a 94 or 95 in Oxford White Later he purchased a white 2000 one,but he didn't trade the old one in instead he traded in a mid 80's Chev Caprise that we had as an extra car that one of my sisters and her husband used when they came here for summer visits from Florida. After my dad passed away in 2003 I sold that first one to a friend ,the newer one which techinically belongs to both my sisters and myself is now in my garage,it is an extra car for me again, and my one sister uses it in the summer when they are here. Guess I gotta have some, although the other colors would also be cool, how about the Eddie (Bayer Asprin) Buaer version in White & Tan ,please Atlas? Love my o6 turbo  Outback better, it is much more fun to drive as was my 96.                                Nate Goodman (Nato). I don't mind, what's coming in the next 4-6 months is going to put a serious dent in my wallet.

I think the gondolas will be a great addition - the taller 5 6" cars are very common these days, especially in scrap service.

And the explorer is really great news!  Anyone know if that white color is a pure white or some funky off white?  It would be nice if they always did pure white, national school bus chrome and Omaha Orange as "default colors" in all of these runs. Maybe add fire engine red and yellowgreen fluerescent as well.

Actually, the adoption of Tuscan Red for passenger diesels came in 1952, not 1954... in "five stripe" scheme. In 1956 the Tuscan Red "broad single stripe" was introduced... it was easier to maintain. It was the active passenger diesel scheme through the end of Pennsy.

Some locos, such as the Alco PA's, were in Tuscan but later transferred to dual service and repainted in DGLE. There was one pair (or was it two pairs) of dual service FP7's in Tuscan, but the rest were in DGLE.

Try modeling an automobile assembly plant.  Talk about needing lots of cars.

I'm glad it's a Ford, as that's what my plant will be, however I wish it was something that was in line with their '97 F150 (which I have dozens of).  An Explorer and an F-150 could be produced at the same facility, but not a '92 and a '97.  In N-scale I could probably fake it, as the details of a particular model year car aren't all that noticeable.  But, it'd be nice if I didn't have to, like the '96 Taurus; which, while the same timeframe as the '97 F-150, wouldn't be produced at the same facility at all.

I guess if I wanted to go all out, I could see about grafting the front-clip of an '97 F-150 onto a '92 Explorer.  That'd solve 90% of the noticeable difference between the model years.  But that'd make for an expensive car.  But as long as there's Undecs, they'll end up on Ebay for about $5/pair, which ain't so bad.
