Autumn trees, what colors?

When I build a T gauge layout I'd like to model the fall season. I want a little bit of green here and there like the leaves still have a way to go before falling. I'd also like to stay away from very bright reds and yellows.

What specific brands and colors would you recommend for tree flocking?

I would guess more colors the better and I would set up straight single colors and mixed colors. Plus a few pine trees. I've never tried modeling fall before so I'm sort of scared  :-\

Yes I do like those muted colors. Maybe brighter than that, but more of them might do it too.

Go check out Scenic expresses fall colors. they are much more muted than the woodland scenics colors which is what the Popp uses.
I used them a while back and are the best in IMO. They have a very wide selection of colors and blends too.

David Popp uses WS trees, but he does airbrush a few here and there.

Marty McGuirk has some realistic fall colors on his new N Scale layout. It will be featured in the book he is working on for Kalmbach. I believe he recommends staying away from WS fall colors as they are too vibrant.

Now wait a minute.  Here's a guy rolls his own brass etchings and builds powered mechanisms the size of my thumbnail - and he's afraid of autumn foliage!!!!!!!  Come on now home boy, start slingin' that foam around.   ;D

Not the best photo but I think the season you're after.  I use WS earth, yellow grass, and mixed earth over the green foliage base and then highlight with a touch of red here and there.  Sprinkle the colors on after giving the tree a light hair spray shot.  If you over do it, shoot it again with hair spray and sprinkle burnt grass foam on the offending areas.

Yeah I am afraid of scenery. Seems everything I do turns out too dark no matter what I use for glue. This is why you don't see me finish a lot of stuff...

I ordered a bunch of stuff from AMSI and I'll see how it looks. For T gauge I will be using these as a base:

They really aren't bad except for the colors and a spray can will fit that. Plus 100 trees for $5! I converted one tree and it looks pretty good, but it is only color type. I need to make up many color mixes.

Any far background fill tree tops will just be small cotton balls.

So the trees are pretty small eh.  You might consider killing the bright green on each one individually, planting them and then adding the highlight colors to the planted forest.  See the forest instead of the tree.  (groan!)
