You guys are killing me.  If anyone has ever seen the 1969 movie "Putney Swope", you gotta see the ad agency's commercials  for the Long Island RR.

Rohr Turbo Train here. It's a fast but memorable ride, and now lies disused in the weeds thanks to a merger....

Remember the Robot Chicken skit?

Whoa.... That was harsh.  I'd never seen it before.  That's precisely why I don't tell most people I'm into model trains.  That's exactly the mental picture they get.

I prefer this one from Bud

It was a radio only commercial and when I first heard it, I laughed so hard I nearly drove into a ditch!

They could have done more with the visuals... ::)

Maybe combine the Budweiser soundtrack with the Robot chicken video!

Dear Mr Bud,

Just letting you know that I am quite comfortable in my own little mini world.

On the other hand, anyone who is so delusional as to think that the product you manufacture could ever be called 'beer' is definitely living in Nutsville. ;D

this got stupid really quick.... trains are not toys... :P

Yeah, they are.

As one of our members once said in an e-mail: "Trains and boobs have one thing in common: they're meant for the kids but the dads get to have the most fun with them!"

I'll tell anyone who'll listen that I'm into model trains.  All of my friends, family, and colleagues either theink it's cool or are at least indifferent.  I haven't ever gotten flack for it.  Now, because of what I do for a living I don't really have to work on the "cool point" system; perhaps my troops may just be polite, but even my bosses have usually thought it was a neat hobby.

One day, when I meet that person that wants to write me off because I play with trains, that person will be the one losing out, not me.

Trains.  I am trains.

Don't worry, Dave.  It's nothing a couple of years of therapy can't help... ;D

When I used to tell people that I was a Meteorologist, they would usually laugh .. give me some quip about being wrong half the time .. I would respond with "Tell me another job where you can be wrong half the time and still get paid what I do?" .. that usually shut them up.

As far as the trains .. I tell them that I could be wasting the money on cigarettes

What about baseball?  You only have to bat about .250, and you get millions!
