FYI IM FP-7's now out.

The Inter Mountain FP-7's are finally starting to arrive. Just recieved my notice from BLW that my Cotton Belt loco is shipping. This is a model of a unique one of loco delivered in Daylight colors, but with a silver roof to keep crews cooler in the Southwestern sun, this locomotive and the GP9 in Daylight colors modeled by Atlas pulled short passenger trains which inluded several American Flyer PS lightweight cars like the NH & Seaboard owned. With the end of passenger service the loco went to parent Southern Pacific was painted in Bloody Nose scheme and recived a Pacific Lines number.                                     Nate Goodman (Nato). I just picked up a A-B pair of Canadian Pacific units. First thing I noticed was the screens on the sides are unevenly applied - they seem to be bulging in the middle - some careful finger pressure didn't solve the issue. I will wait until I get them home tonight to take a closer look.

Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

That's a common problem - that's why I inspect IM F's before I buy.

Is Reading on the docket for these? Why am I so into Reading stuff? Geez... anyway, those would be hot. They pulled commuter service out of Philly into CR days.

Mine are that way on all my units. I think between the time they were applied and when I recieved them they got cold and popped off a bit. I always pop mine off and reapply.

Ed, yes there are Reading units coming soon.  I've got 2 on order.  No B units since Reading didn't own any B units.  Would be nice for someone to do some Reading commuter or a complete Crusader.

I'm looking forward to getting the RDG ones too. At least with the new ATSF Navaho observation car from Con-cor there is something remotely close for a Crusader consist. It's possible to make commuter cars from Rivarossi pullmans - not easy but possible. The modernized Wall St cars would be a real challenge.

Recieved My Loco Today.

FYI I recieved my Cotten Belt loco today after the holiday mail shut down. It is very nicely done, no problems with the side grills, silver striping evenly applyed, just one slight problem though, thats a paint color issue. While the orange stripe is the correct color the Daylight Red is a pale almost Salmon-Like color. I believe that is the same problem they had with the Shasta Daylight Passenger cars, I turned down my order from BLW so never saw them, and I'am still waiting for rerun in correct colors.                  Nate Goodman (Nato). Reading commuter car, this was a pretty crude "proof of concept" car so all the parts aren't perfect. I plan on doing some more experimenting to take this a little further. The Rivarossi pullmans work best for RDG cars because of the door window size.

That looks good enough to my eyes.

It's a rivarossi "core", right?

Yes, with a new scratchbuilt window strip and steps, MDC trucks, and Kato Budd roof filed to shape. The Rivarossi car also has to be shortened a bit first too.

When all is said and done, it's a $50 car, right?

Looking good, Rich (and I think this thread has been officially hijacked).  Aren't these the cars that the New Hope & Ivyland runs on excursion trains?

Haha yeah something like that, when you add up the cost of the car, trucks, couplers, roof, decals. Especially since Rivarossi went out of business and the cars start getting harder to find. MDC used to sell the trucks but Horizon doesn't, so I watch for deals on express reefers. I think it was Klein's that had them for $3 each a few years ago and I stocked up. I also picked up 8 3-packs of coaches when Walthers was closing them out.

On top of that, CDS has halted production so whatever's out there is it. They are the only ones making lettering for RDG passenger cars. Jersey Central cars are a bit easier, because I can reuse the original roof and I have a stack of decal sheets 2" thick... enough for hundreds of cars  ;D

Frank I think you're right, they are either PBr or PBn which are pretty similiar.
