Atta boy!

Now for some power. There are some RDG units out right now that are almost too pretty to patch... almost :-D

Oh man, I was sweating matching the paint on my new one of those I just purchased too. But now? Not so much...

Thanks for the pic!

Awesome, thanks!

While I'm chomping at the bit to weather up that PC boxcar, I'm looking at that beautiful Conrail cabin thinking it almost looks too pretty for anything more than grime on the underframe and endposts with a little roof rust.

Since I'd be doing about 1980, I fgure it'd be cleaner.

Here it is in service on my layout:

Hello alltogether;
I also bought a Penn Central car two weeks ago at a local train show here in Bremen/Germany (yes, we make the beer with "experience"..Becks bottled  ;) )
The price for this 40' box car was 5,00€ (1€ is 1,59...$) and it is in very good condition.
Would it be prototypical running PC cars in BN trains? My favourite RR is the BN but I think that some eastern flavour like Conrail will just fit in...

greetings Tim

Tim,

Sure!  BN was formed in 1970, I believe...  Since PC lasted until 1976 (and many PC cars can be seen on American railroads even today, you sure can!  Good luck!  And, have a Becks for me, would you? ;D

PC WAS one of the largest RRs. It's cars went everywhere, so you're set.

And Dave, let's see the REAL pic now!

Ah Dave... http://www.dzign77.de/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2007/03/becks.jpg  cheers  ;D
thanks for your information, do you know how long PC's scheme lasted into the Conrail era?
I have a book "ConRail Motive Power Review" by Gordon Lloyd & Louis A.Marre...just over ten years old but very helpful when you, like me, live across the atlantic ocean...ah, I also got some Amtrak cars I asked you on the atlas forum's Carolina Central thread...they're very nice and I detailed them like you did...

Tim,

I'll let Ed, the human Conrail Encyclopedia, answer the CR paint scheme question.

Speaking of which, chck this out if you haven't already:

http://crcyc.railfan.net/

As for the Atlas thread, I think you have me confused with Dave Foxx.  I don't have any N scale Amtrak...  ...yet.

Ed,

Here you go (not yet weathered, unfortunately):

The PC scheme lasted a LONG time... obviously diminishing as time went on.

But, check this out:
http://thecrhs.org/?q=node/364

Not QUITE the PC scheme, but pretty damn close, and in 06. Granted, it was out of service, but still.

Dave, you're right...I confused you with Dave but you both have wonderful layouts and I hope that my L-shaped layout will look as good as your layouts...and I like Ed's layout, too... I just don't like thinking about  my previous layout built on german railroads...spaghetti bowl layout will fit best...
I still have a Conrail SD45 from Kato on my roster but now I think it will fit perfectly, but first I have to weather it a little.
Ed, could you please gimme a short information on your "vodka" weathering?

Some of my old PC shots. If I had unlimited time and money I'd model PC Altoona to Johnstown, hands down.

Rich - nice shots of course!  But what did you use for those bushes/trees on the hillside?

It looks very fine and leafy - really nice!
