We're on the Chicago Transit Authority in June of 1959, when it was undergoing many changes.

Here's the first of the median strip rapid transit lines. The old elevated it replaced, due to be torn down shortly, crosses above. Imagine that little traffic in Chicago today!

On the outer end of the Lake elevated line, it ran on the surface in 1959 and used trolley poles for current collection. Here are a pair of cars with the poles up at the point where the third rail ends.

A shot at the end of the Lake line. The train will cross over to the right hand track just beyond the platform.

Trolley poles down, a Lake train circumnavigates the Loop.

Next week, the Connecticut Electric Railway Museum at Warehouse Point.

Some time in the mid-90's I believe, Amtrak showed off what I remember to be a Swedish built train.  One of the big features was the built in tilting mechanism on the cars.

That would be the X2000. They demoed that and the German ICE before deciding to build the Acela.

How about some prancing ponies this week...
The first one is nekkid.  Andy shot this back in 04 when some Atlas board locals got a tour of Bayview.

We also caught an Acela set rushing past...

This one was at Delmar back in January.

A couple at York, PA in December:

Some interesting power at the Curve two years ago...

And at Cresson last summer.

Last stop, Princess Anne, Maryland

It looks like a Renault, but I'm not able to find the model number. So I'm probably wrong.

Continuing last week's Indian journey, here are a few more pics taken in December 1978/January 1979. These were all taken from Agfa CT18 colour slides, scanned and then converted B & W.

First up my personal favourites - the broad gauge (5'6") XE class 2-8-2s - this one on shed at the delightfully named Jha Jha

At the time, with the exception of China, Asansol, north of Calcutta, would have been possibly the world largest steam shed - another XE alongside a WP 4-6-2

Sitrampur, near Asansol, had between 20 & 30 of these vintage 2-8-0 HGS class alloocated for use on the Bengal coalfields branches

At Ranchi on the South Eastren Railway, two 1920s built narrow gauge (2'6") 2-8-2s are prepared for work on the branch used for carrying iron ore.

Some more shots out of my old pic collection-once again, apologies for the poor quality of the
pics, & my poor photography skills.

A few more taken around the B&O freight station here in town from October 1979:

One of the old tank cars on the siding behind the station:

C&O GP7 sitting in front of the station:

B&O M-26 (?) boxcar apparently being used for MW storage:

2 CR Geeps powering the westbound local run that switched the local industries:

Another trackage shot this time looking south from the bridge location pic from last week in the
spring of 1980-Left to Right: CR ex PC ex PRR Pittsburgh/Chicago main (now NS); CR branch to the Republic Steel plant a mile or south; NW ex NKP ex WLE spur to the freight station across the river & line south to Navarre (now long gone); Chessie ex B&O line south to Wheeling (now RJ Corman/Ohio Central & abandoned south of Uhrichsville/Dennison 20 miles south.) Interesting about the Republic
Steel spur is all 3 lines took turns in switching it, each taking 4 months of the year. The spur is still
there but unused as Republic is gone & in the process of being torn down.

More to come next week...

Looks like a Renault 6 to me, except I'm used to seeing them as hatchbacks ... wonder if they made them in sedan form w/ a trunk for the NA market ???

I don't think I agree with a Renault 6.  The mystery car has rear fenders that don't look like they were designed for fender skirts.  Not to mention, it doesn't have any.

It looks like a Toyota or Simca to me, but I can't find anything to prove it.

It would appear that it is indeed a Simca:
