Got the following reply when I emailed about the removal of the ambassadors' web pages on the WGH website:

Quote
We are at a point in the program where we are focusing efforts exclusively on the clubs, hobby-shops, and the public-layout side of the program.  We regret any disappointment this causes.

Huh...

I was signed up as an ambassador too.

Guess I have to turn in my diplomatic license plates.

I bet if you put all the members of organized clubs in one bag, and all the participants in on-line forums in another, I bet you'd have a pretty big bag of independent guys who do their "clubbing" on line.  I'm sure there's quite a bit of crossover, but I dare say that independent on-line hobbyists (both in terms of chatting and shopping) make up a fairly large constituency they are cutting off...

How many of you avoid clubs because of the petty politics, the slobbering goofballs, the "Anything Goes" crowd, and of course, the BO and halitosis?

First they hire Cody Grivno, now this!  What are they thinking up there in America's Dairyland?

Kalmbach is the hobby...  To say otherwise is subversion.

But the real reason people do not join clubs is that they do not work and play well with others.    They tend to be arrogant and judgemental.

WARNING - THIS WON'T BE POLITICALLY CORRECT - IF THIS OFFENDS YOU - I'M JUST TOO @$$@@! SORRY.

I am so $#@$#@# sick and tired of the "uber- dorks" at Kalmbach I could switch to bead threading or another non Kalmbach hobby.

Let's get something clear.....

KALMBACH ISN'T MODEL RAILROADING - THEY DO NOT OWN THE TRADEMARK, THE PATENT OR THE COPRIGHT - THEY JUST "THINK THEY DO".....

MODEL RAILROADER MAGAZINE "ISN'T"............  It's " Friends, advertisers and flunkies of Kalmbach Publishing inc" Magazine.... I am not denigrating any author who has been published in this " dean of model railroading" magazine - it's an honour to share their pages with the others - it' just that I am tired and sick to death of the "elite eight"; or whatever Koester calls his minions......

N SCALE EXISTS AND IS ALIVE AND WELL THANK YOU - WE DON'T NEED M.R.'S QUARTERLY HAND OUT ARTICLE - FOCUS ON YOUR WOODLAND SCENICS AND WALTHERS-ESQUE SUPPORT ARTICLES FOR THE HO UNWASHED AND UNAWARE....

I AM P'D AT THEIR "RE-GURGITATED" MAGAZINE ARTICLE "BOOK SERIES" - I PAID FOR THE %^#%$@ ARTICLE ONCE WHY WOUD i BUY THE ^$^%$^%#&^ BOOK.... ARE YOU SO LIMITED IN YOUR CHOICE OF AUTHORS THAT YOU NEED TO RECYCLE ?

Most of all, I hate their attitude; "We're M.R"..... next topic..............

As far as this modeler is concerned I don't believe a word out of their mouths and don't care if they ever publish another magazine or book...........

Harsh - you bet........... they deserve more.

Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!
