I think this might have got overlooked when I posted it in the the Thursday thread.

I took this at Newark in July 1981 during my one and only visist to the US. Other than the fact that it's a Geep (without DB) on the front I know nothing about the subjcet of this image. Could someone enlighten me please?

Wes, I saw your inquiry, but was hoping that SecretWeapon would reply, as he is an NJDOT engineer. I believe that is one of the GP's modified for the CNJ or EL commuter service in the first of the NJDOT color schemes, but don't hold me to it.

Thanks guys for the quick responses.

If anyone has any idea wher the train might have been going and to the ancestry of the consist that would be good - the consist drew some interest when I put the photo up on one of the Aussie forums.

I think your right I see just a hint of the rear end with the extra cabinets.
