is that an 0-6-0? she's a beaut, especially with that open cab and all... how did they deal with the Swedish winter with that thing?  :o

It´s a class Ka, a 0-6-0 just as you thought. There are very big differences between temperatures in the northern and the southern parts of Sweden during winter (Sweden is 1500 miles long) and I don´t know if these engines were used in the Northern parts. Probably it wasn´t so healthy to spend to much time in the open cab.

Thanks, Rikard, makes more sense that way. I'm guessing the climate of southern Sweden is much like that of Denmark, since they are so close? Influenced by the jetstream?

It's all very nice btw. When did the Swedish railways become totally non-steam?

That´s right Matthew, we are living in Malmo just opposit Copenhagen, and the two cities are connected by a bridge.
I think the last steam engines were used in the early seventies.

...I'm also looking for pictures of more modern stuff like the IORE engines. where can I find pictures or layouts with big swedish ore trains ?
