Today, some shots of Connecticut Co. open car 923 at what was then The Branford Electric Railway Association museum in East Haven, CT, and taken on July 7, 1956.

923 flies an American flag on the retriever rope. Note at this date it was a 48 star flag, as Alaska and Hawaii weren't states in 1956.

923 at the carbarn area. Connecticut Co. saved many open bench cars for use once a year, for the Harvard-Yale football game, until 1946, many were donated to museums.

Now this photo has great personal significance. The woman at the controls is my aunt and my mother is on the front bench behind her.

Next week, more Branford - different cars this time.

Here's a couple images of the wreck of the Federal Express. The FedEx lost control of the brakes on the cars behind the 4th car in the train and failed to stop on track 16 in Union Station in Washington, DC, crashing through the stationmaster's office and onto the concourse. The floor collapsed under the weight of the GG1 and it sunk into the baggage room below. Owing to the fact that Eisenhower's Inaugeration was 3 days away, the GG1 was covered over with a temporary floor, and removed later after being cut into 3 pieces. It ran again, and was one of the last GG1s in service.

The only eastern union terminal I've been to.

Gregg, cool streetcars. Do you know of any places to find Texas Electric photos? Do you have any?

Only in books. Texas Electric was abandoned when I was 7  and was not yet taking pictures. I lived in Jackson Heights, New York, at the time.

It was what, the second largest interurban west of the Mississippi? And one of only two interurbans in Texas. I've never been able to find a system map, either, Gregg.

I took them back in the late 80's from the second floor window of the WMRHS museum in Union Bridge.

Here is a trolley at nearby Cortland, OH. Says E. Market so it must be from Warren.

All these date from the mid-1990s. All the locos are still in service today, but all now carry different paint schemes of their new owners.

Here's some of my oldest photos.  Taken on a bus tour while I was in the Navy.  Tokyo, Japan:

Taken summer of 1969.

Saved the "best" kitty kitty specimen for last.  Horrible photo but I only saw this thing once.  Narrow gauge, outside 3rd rail "mules" for moving hopper cars beneath the Hulett unloaders.  Somebody in the paint shop had a sense of humor.

One more from the ore docks on Maumee Bay near Toledo.

At one of the many crossings at grade in the Toledo area.

I'll throw one on this evening-this is of the D750 (the Willard/Akron local) slowing considerably at
Sterling to switch out the 1st 2 covered hoppers on the team track about 1/4 mile behind me.

I'll go ahead and share a few of my own oldies; not the greatest quality, but the best I could do at age 16.

First, a rainy day shot of a B&O work train in the summer of 1971:

...and the Geep that was powering it:

A group shot of "the gang" at Riverside shops:

These were all 30yr-old slides I recovered from my parents' attic, some of the few that weren't totally rotted with age...
