New TrainCat Product - Double Track Pratt Bridge

Hi all! It's finished!!

I am proud to show this Double Track Pratt on this site first. The prototype is the Ilchester bridge on the B&O Old Main Line. It is 163ft in length and shares 90% of the parts with our Single Track bridge released last year (Including the raised rivets Steve  ;D). As always, comments are welcomed.

Really sweet.  It's those pin-connected members that I'm struggling to model with plastic...

It seems almost a shame to paint it, it so beautiful in natural brass... ;D

How long does it take to get a model like this to production, Bob?

It took a year because I could only get two hours to take measurements each time I went to the Timonium show. It then took 2 months to do the artwork and do the first etching. I worked on the bridge over two weekends doing the proto build. And it WAS a blast to build. So you get to use your modeling skills and it was made in the USA to boot.

I have Soooooooooo many bridge plans waiting to be built; Deck Truss, Swing Bridge, Tower Lift Bridge, Bascule Bridge. This year I have been commissioned to build the Southern Single Track New River Gorge Bridge and the Double Track Burnside Bridge. The client wants the ENTIRE bridge withOUT compression. That's 1,618 feet and 10.11 feet in N-Scale. Here's a pic.

Looks like you nailed it!  How's about the girder plates leading up to it?  Looks like Chooch piers would do the trick.

The Plate Girder bridge will be out shortly. And yes, it will be an exact replica.

Oh, ... and the piers too.  8)

Bob
Is there any chance you will construct the Double Track Burnside Bridge in a way that it could be purchased individual sections; like only one middle span etc?

I like the style very much but I just don't have the room for the entire bridge.

The two bridges are actually identical. SOU just used the two inner stringers to create a single track. They were smart in that to double track the bridge, they just had to add the outer stringers.

The bridge will be made of modules. I have not decided how I will divide it yet. I can see two ways: a) pier to pier. b) center span to center span with the support in the middle. Just not sure yet where to place joints.
