let me make this painfully simple:

GIVEN: Kato has not tooled up anything yet on the SD40, SD45, or SD40-2. They are designing these from the ground up. The year is 1989 (the SD40 came out in 1991 IIRC).

My assertion is that if Kato knew they were going to offer the SD40, SD45, and SD40-2, then there is no reason why they could not have designed the chassis and trucks in such a manner that the Flexicoil trucks could be swapped with the HT-C.

Of course in reality Kato probably did not have a plan to produce the SD40-2 in 1991, or they failed to take this into account.

That is it, pretty simple. I will not elaborate on this any further.  ::)

I hope Atlas is the one rumored to take the SD40-2 reigns, I really do ... 8)

OK I was thinking something else... :P

You would think Atlas would be all over the Dash2 (however all the different details / phases would be a nightmare)

Kato has gotten back to me  , they updated their web site as well . The UP NW-2 will have the 50's slogans as shown in the prototype picture on their site . Sale and sale , woohoo .

"Our webpage has been updated with all of our recent announcements. You can
find the specific information you're looking for at the link below. Scroll
down and select "Union Pacific" from the list

I think you'll be pleased with the result."

Geez, I didn't know the NW2 only sold to roads west of the Mississippi (other than B&O and C&O). Good thing Kato has straightened this all out for me.

I think a GTW NW2 would be nice, but it operated on the wrong side of the "Kato line".

Still waitin' for Kato's SD75I...

Those NW2s look really nice. If I only needed one. ::) N&W didn't use switchers on the Pokey though, at least not when I was there (up to '77 or so).

N&W's are ex-Wab and ex-NKP.

A few month back someone (I think they were on here) send me some info on NW2's that were stripped and repainted for a bunch of eastern roads.  Lost the e-mail and would like to know if anyone has any info on this.  Believe it was a shop in CA.

Bob,
That was probably "The Freight Yard" formerly of California now residing in Arizona.

What did they use for switching? ex. NKP SD9s?

No. Never saw any ex NKP or ex NKP units on the Pokey (this changed in the late 70s).

In Williamson, which was (is?) the world's largest coal classification yard the normal yard power was GP9s and RS11s, but whatever was available up to SD45s was used in a pinch.

A RS11 Pulling strings of coal cars would look pretty sweet!
