Maersk engine is a SDF40-2, formerly a SDP40F... not a FP45.

...well   ;)

In case you didn't see this on some of the WGH Sacramento threads:

Here's some good quality shots of the test shells that Athearn had there.  As a Santa Fe fan, I'm very excited about these.  :-)

As someone who models a road that never, ever saw such a loco, can someone provide a good list of what roads did use these? So I can see if I can have any reason to get such a thing? I do rather like the look of them, I think they look nicer than the FP40 which I did get in Amtrak colors and a few undecs to do in VIA.

Off topic, but Bobcat, your sig line....the Principal Chief of the Cherokee Indians (I'm one) has been sending each new President since 1923 a letter stating that(Watch your immagration policy)...not many have listened. I always wonder why for about 70,000 years the Oxinajuan Indians never ventured over the Rio Grande, but for the last 50 years have been flooding across. Oh, stupid me....it's Global Warming, making it too hot in Mexico! ::)

I'm really looking forward to this model!
I don't see a release time for the MRL units tho. Guess I'll be waiting a while.
When they do come, I think I'll opt for the non sound version and then buy and install my own loksound micro decoder to install. I'm not that happy with the motor control and programability of the challenger MRC unit. That said, if it comes out and the sound and other dcc characteristics are better than the challengers were I'll reconsider.

As a note on the Utah Rwy F45s:
Only one F45 ever wore UR colors, numbered 9013.  As stated, it was the former ATSF F45.

Until the posting a couple days ago, I hadn't even known about the BN units.  I haven't been able to dig up any info on them being repainted.  I assume they were simply patched, since they retained the same numbers.
One boringly interesting fact refers to number 6607.  It never ran on UR rails as anything but an unmanned booster unit, and that only lasted about 6 months.  After that, it was used for parts until scrapped.

The Question was asked "what trainsdid these pull ?" The FP 45 was the passenger version with a steam generator at the rear. They were found only on the Santa Fe & Milwaukee. They pulled Santa Fe's Premire passenger train the by then combined Super Chief El Capitan , sonetimes the Cheif berore it was discontinued and occaisionaly the San  Francisco Chief. Other SF trains were pulled by F units ,briefly GE U28 CG locos before tracking problens banned them from passenger work, and GE U30 CG cowell locomotives. On the Milwaukee their small fleet pulled the Combined "City Of Everewhere" through UP SP Domeliner train, and the Hiawatha trains between Chi Town and the Twin Cities. When Amquack (Trak) came along these locomotives became freight engines. F45 locomotives were freight locomotives they had a slightly shorter leingth,on the Santa Fe & GN when new they pulled those roads hottest schedules like Piggy Back Intermodal trains, and other freights. Santa Fe's short lived"Super C" intermodal train running Transcon on a passenger schedule used these locomotives. Later in their careers the SF locomotives pulled all types of freight trains, and still later were not always lead units on trains. When the GN units became BN locomotives at first they continued on premire trains, but eventually wound up like SF locos on just about anything. Second hand locos that went to other roads pulled varied trains. On the Utah Railway of course they hauled coal trains. Om MRL all types of freight and business inspection trains. On WC fairly hot freights, when Walter Rich was president of the revived Susie Q the locos he obtained pulled hot double stack trains, and officers specials. Then there were the similar looking Amtrak SD40P F locos, and Amtrak later obtained some ex Santa Freight locos that were converted to passenger use. Nate Goodman (Nato).

Thanks Nate.

Does this mean the FP45 and the Kato Super Chief is a possibilty or were those Super Chief cars replaced by then?

Anyone ever figure out why the Amtrak ones derailed so much.  Guess it was the reason they stopped using them.  Rode behind them from DC to SC many a time and they could fly.
