Looks like you need some Micro Engineering bridge track anyway...  If you have $5 or 600 bucks laying around, you get those nifty BLMA bridges!

Nice stuff everyone!

Continue to make progress on this old MILW switching tower:

I'm going to rework the tarpaper roof as it is too thick for my tastes. I also need to add a bunch of details to it as well. This is the prototype:

I also started experimenting with more static grass on one of the modules that is ready for it:

Sorry for the lack of depth of field as I got lazy and didn't do the Helicon thing. I'm going to add a second layer of grass to add some variation to the height and color, plus I want to get a little more of that overgrown grass look to it. I'll post more photos as I move along on it.

I also got a bunch of other little stuff done so it was a good train weekend. :D

Just thought I would drop a photo or two of the EL Sd45 I just finished.  I did a bunch of detailing and weathering on it.

It's Silflor's newer static grass - late summer blend I think. I also used a Gras Master static machine to apply it.

Geez, Scott. That's some fine stuff going on there. So gritty overgrown east coast industrial in decay, stuff I've never seen in reality except for views from I-95 between D.C. and Philly :D. Nutin' like that out here in Texas, 'cept maybe Dallas or Houston, barely. ;)

I mucked around with the walls of my grain elevator trying to get the concrete look and some weathering on them before assembly.  It's my first structure in N scale, and only my second or third structure ever: the first couple of ones were HO and built when I was 14-15 years old and I was only interested in getting them glued together reasonably straight, with no interest at all in painting or weathering.

Baby steps.

No photos as yet but I did get a full 4 days of modeling in last week.....pre-approved from wifey!

The last week saw me under the layout installing 14 Tortoise machines, getting them connected to NCE Switch-8 decoders then running them all thru Panel Pro. All in all a very successful week. Just waiting on the last 6 Tort's to arrive.

Yes! I did give up on the Scaleshops units...POS!

KB, nice scene...I really like the coloring with your water.

Lashedup, the tower looks great.  Grass, too.

I got a lot done, but seemingly not much to show for it.  I finished placing trackage in my staging yard which involved drilling many holes for feeders and finishing the installation of a few switch machines.  While I was testing the track, I tested a few DCC installs I just did including an NW2 and a couple of F40PH's.  Also did some DCC planning trying to figure out my detection, transponding, and signalling design.  Finally, I did some mockups including laying out cardboard platforms and retaining walls representing Dallas Union Station on my layout.  Keep in mind, this is really nothing more than visible staging and is intended to give the impression of a passenger station, not really DUS specifically.  No room for a station anyway, much less a replica.  And, there is no subterrainian trackage at DUS although the adjacent convention center does cover the DART rails nearby.  I plan to have correct platforms and "sheds" though.  Here's a staged pic I took with some of my TRE stuff.

NOTE: I'm no longer active on this forum.   If you need to contact me, use the e-mail address (or visit the website link) attached to this username.  Thanks.

Thanks. Flat Swamp is part of High Rock Lake which is part of the Yadkin River. The area is covered with a reddish shale which creates a nice red-brown mud.

When I went to paint the water, my first thought was what color is chocolate milk?

PS - I seem to sometimes do a lot, but have little to show for it.

So, you live up Lexington way?  I may be going to Spencer sometime soon and I'll have to drop by.
