SP Fresno District Coyote Canyon MP 23.5

Been working on this 3' wide turn on one end of the layout. I re-did the mountain to bring out the shadows. Been coloring fake fur for the wild golden California grasses and pained in a yellow hill between the fur hill and the mountain.

Chuck, that is looking really good! The faux fur in N is pretty difficult, but I've found the "plush felt" to really work well in the 1:160 scale. Because I'm modeling the spring in the Oregon Cascades, there won't be much dry grass effect on my layout, but it sure does the California landscape well. Good Job! Hey! Those mountains look good too!

VERY nice ... I am also working on a desert scene, and getting colors right is not easy.

SouPac - It is sweatshirt marterial, fleece, not faux fur. Mind fart. I have to re-do the section to the right of the photo, I painted it instead of dry brushed the acrylic paint on it. The color is light yellow to begin with, so it needs only highlights. Thanks Ed amd N&W.

Spring
must be right around the corner.  I really like the hint of green as opposed to the browns I would need for late fall.  Nice to see somethg on a layout that is not 100% Woodland Scenics summer green...

My brother used to live in Antioch, CA (between SF and Sacretomato) and we visited in February 89.  Looks very close to what I remember.  You'd need Mt. Diablo in the background, though...

Lee - I lived in Concord then. Here's the pics I have been working off, they were up as backdrop untill I painted it. I am still too bright with the yellow grass color. But it turns up better in photos then too light.
