I watched White Christmas last week. I noticed that when Danny and Bing and the ladies traveled from New York to Vermont, they left on the SP Daylight and arrived on the Super Chief.

That's kinda like Kevin Costner getting on the DC Metro but riding the Baltimore subway in No Way Out. And then he gets off in Georgetown. It's hard to believe Costner's acting as it is, even harder to suspend my belief when it would be great to actually ride from Baltimore to DC easily in real life, and go to Georgetown without having to hoof it or park when out of town guests want to go.

They filmed the interior shots on the B'more subway because A) no one uses it, and B) it's actually closed on Sundays, so the film makers had the run of the place.

No one will make an N Scale GP40-2L(W) or GP40-2W  >:(

...but we both could use a SD40-2W or -2F, right ?   ;)

Or a fleet of them!

B) Wrong!  It is open on Sunday (True that it used to be closed on Sunday though)

Let's not rule out the plethora of post-Homicide unemployed film workers still in Baltimore hankering for something, even another John Waters movie.

We could start a thread about "foobies" in movies.(Kinda catchy soundin', ain't it?) For years, they used a clip of a B-52 belly landing/taking off for every aircraft there was. Looked kinda funny when they showed the side of a Cessna 152 afterwards...Seeing the Super Chief in New England, the Lark in Florida, The New York Central to Montreal(?), and there's more. Hollywood has never worried too much about accuracy in movies. Showing Al Capone in a Dusenburg, when the Dusenburg Brothers refused to sell him one(and Machine Gun Kelly, and Bugs Morane, and Legs Diamond, they were VERY selective who they'd sell their automobiles to).

Walkercolt, the New York Central did go to Montreal. It even went to Ottawa at one time! NYC operated over its own tracks to Adirondack Jct., PQ, about 10 miles from downtown Montreal and came into town over the CP. Passenger service ended in the 1950's on the line. NYC quit Ottawa before WWII.

It would be a long and ponderous list.

Off the top of my head I remember this one Twilight Zone episode where a woman is driving west from NY in Pennsylvania and has to stop at a grade crossing while a train passes - headed up by SP F units. :P

I remember a recent movie on Roswell, with modern Government of Alberta Covered hoppers in the background of a scene set in 1947.

and don't forget all the red tiled columns in the background of "Dulles" or "National" airport scenes.  and then there are the RT 50 scenes that look more like southern California...
