Dave has come out with an M-1, see the A-Board.
And I must state that it is a very nicely done M-1.
I could predict several things, but here is one based on a minimum of experience:
The B-mann USRA heavy 4-8-2 will displace the Kato mikado as the measuring rod by which we judge all N scale steam.
Mine is undergoing break-in, but my first impressions are very good. It combines several good elements of the various manufacturers: split frame (various), considerable weight (MP), good gearing (B-mann and MP), DCC already there (a first, unless Athearn has done it in their challenger, which I do not own), traction tyres (B-mann, MDC/Athearn), a flywheel (Kato and Athearn/MDC), all wheels live needlepoint axle pickup on the tender (Kato, B-mann), and good quality control (Kato, Atlas).
