 ;)

Where we all agreed we would lose enough weight to fit into a size 32?  But seriously, how did you do?  This time last year, I hadn't got into scenery yet, and since I've made a few dioramas that I'm happy with.  My ZTrack article was finished and published.  I never got around to selling Z or any scale decals, but I plan to include them with my Weathering Technique Book.

For 2008:

  • Finish and distribute Weathering Book.  I have the projects and most of the artwork finished, but I need to pull everything together and finalize how it should be distributed.  So far, I'm leaning towards a PDF that contains artwork that can be used for decal making.  If I can figure out how to print a book cheaply and include printed decals, great.
  • Finish benchwork and track plan for LAJ layout.
  • Transform garage into awesome work and layout area.
  • Continue to weather everything I like and enjoy the hobby

Ok, your turn.

my goal in 2007 was to have lots of fun. I fell short of my goal. Damn job got in the way (vacation? what's that?)

2008
the 1st goal involves decal artwork. Need phase 1 complete by 1/31/08.
hmm get 4 motor vehicles running again, tagged and insured.
get all track laid on my Pokey.
Complete hi-nose conversions on a minimum of 5 locos.
Visit real life Pokey again using one of the motor vehicles above.
Misc house projects.

I didn't realize I was stupid enough to set goals last year.  :-[  ;) I won't make the same mistake again!!!  ;D

OK, maybe one goal - be still alive at the end of next year.  8) 8) 8)

Model railroading is supposed to be fun, setting goals ain't fun.

Uh oh, Tom's calling us on the carpet.  I didn't finish my Lehigh Valley bridge, but I did finalize the dimensions, construction methods, and I gathered a lot of structural plastic!

I also learned how to use Corel and researched/prepared decal artwork for a Historical Society.

For 2008, I plan to finish my bridge and Phillipsburg, NJ scene.

Well not train related, my 2007 goal was to get married and go to Thailand.... Done
While I was at it, I ended up doing my 2006 goal... to loose 20 pounds

My 2008 goal?
get a better job and start looking for a house.
There's a shyness found in reason
Apprehensive influence swallow away
You seem to feel abysmal take it
Then you're careful grace for sure
Kinda like the way you're breathing
Kinda like the way you keep looking away

Nuts, just looked at my Goals for 2007, I managed none of them but did manage to acquire some buildings.

The wood for a couple of 4x1 modules is sat in the Garage waiting to be built but I fear the birth of our first child, due at Easter all going well, may well interfere with both layout plans and spending (sorry Chuck).

But I will reiterate my 2007 goal to actually build something!!!!!!!

Well, in 2007 I vowed to devote one at least 1 hour a day to something train related, Sad to report I fell somewhat short on that one. And the benchwork for the extension is complete.

In 2008 I`d LIKE to:

1. Finish the town section of the layout.

2.The benchwork for my steel mill extension is complete, so I`d like to have all the track laid and trains running, as well as some stuctures completed.

You`ll never find a Philly cheese steak on a menu in Philadelphia. It`s called a cheesesteak and we all know where it`s from...

Crap. I posted on that thread.

1) Finish up a certain decal artwork project.
2) learn how to use an airbrush
3) Finish my N&W Z1b
4) finish at least six of my hi-nose conversions.
5) finalize track plan and get all track laid on my layout
6) travel to the Pokey

These are only my RR'ing related goals.

1) only a few days left - crap!
2) Failed (gonna get me a Paasche soon tho)
3) Failed.
4) Failed.
5) Track plan mostly finalized, no track laid yet. ::)
6) Failed.

Well, I am back to a 33 - after going from a 38 to a 32 a couple of year ago and then going back to a 36.  I will probably get to a 32 or 30.

On the model railroad front, I am very disappointed - lots of new toys, no real theme or concept that I can really hook onto. My wife and kids are hovering over my huge basement real estate patch, thinking of new things to do with it.

Since the benchwork is up, and everyone wants to run trains, I keep saying to myself it's time to just build a great busy mainline and then it will all make sense. I've looked a lot at modern CSX and 1991 Conrail. And then over Christmas I saw the Jean Shepard movie "A Christmas Story" and started thinking- what about 1956 (the year I was born) - do something totally wild and cash out of all the modern stuff.

The good part is that it's all fun!!!

2008:
work on N-Trak module scenery (ballast track, add trees, fix rock coloring).
finish trackwork on my home layout
finish installing switch machines and install turnout control and signaling system
paint and decal C630 shells
proof-read Tom's book - make sure the process works  ;D

2009:
move to Ohio and start building large PRR Panhandle layout

2007 Goals:
I'm looking forward to repairing my garden layout (again!) and running it this summer.  I'm also planning to get my daughters' bedroom finished so I can move my son back into his room, and I can have my train room back!  Then I can add the next sections to my layout, and perhaps have the mainline in place by this time next year

Update:
Well, I gave up on the garden railroad completely, pulling it up and selling the track and some of the trains.
I did get the bedroom partially demolished, and one closet reconstructed.  But moving my office back home pressed that room into service storing surplus furniture.  Maybe next year...
I did succeed in expanding the layout with some temporary routes to make it more functional, and actually hosted three operating sessions.

2008 Goals:
Since the foreseeable future holds a lot of budget constraints, my goal for 2008 is to simply try to stay afloat, perhaps sell off some of my surplus to raise cash, and further refine the operations aspect of the layout as is.
