Why Germans rock!

Man if only I had those building skills.

The roads look great... no slots or wires, no nothing to indicate the models are powered. Now I would Love to have a radio controled Mustang GT on my layout chasing a Conrail TV hotshot. This will probibly be doable in a few years as the batteries and motors and servos shrink.

Now if we wanted to automate all traffic on our layout, we would need to come up with a transponding and tracking software... we might actually help the real car manufactuers in vehicle automotion.

There's a shyness found in reason
Apprehensive influence swallow away
You seem to feel abysmal take it
Then you're careful grace for sure
Kinda like the way you're breathing
Kinda like the way you keep looking away

Wonder if its someone making their own vehicles for the Faller Car System (available in N and HO)?

Here's a link to the product in N (on sale at Walthers):

That's a great price.  You can do a lot with 39' of guide wire in N scale.

Now when do I get my Mini Cooper!

PS - I'm partial to sauerbraten myself... especially when you use venison...

Rick Spano uses this system; so far he has two buses and four trucks, as well as many options such as route switching, automatic stopping, etc. See the second video on this page: http://scenicedandundecided.net/animation.htm

He did a very amusing thing: he tied an Atlas Taurus to the back end of a truck using a nearly invisible monofilament thread. Because the car has no steering capability, it swerves back and forth across the road just like a drunk driver as it tailgates the truck. Lots of mindless fun.

Jaegerschnitzel = Austria
Bratwurst, Hamburger, Hot Dog = Germany

You've got to love the food channel even for geography lessons.

I saw the Faller system in operation last month at Trainfest in Milwaukee (the morning after I had my favorite Weinerschnitzel ala Holstein at a restaurant in Waukesha).

The busses were running around a very twisting mountain road with steep grades. Very impressive.  The vehicles are self contained, battery operated and have a magnet on the front which follows a wire buried in the pavement.  Not sure if that was what was in the video above since the bus stops at one point and then activates its rear flashers ??? ???

BTW Weinerschnitzel ala Holstein is a traditional Weinerschnitzel topped with a sunnyside up fried egg and anchovies with pickled beets on the side.   Mmmmmmmmmmmmm!
Best regards,

Roger

Roger- you must have gone to the Gasthaus?  That's the only authentic bavarian restaurant that I know of in Waukesha, I lived there for over 30 years until a few months ago.

That may be, but I downed a lot of Jaegershnitzel in Frankfurt..With a half liter of Binding Export..

Sparky--That's the place.  We found it two years ago when we first went to Trainfest.  Now it's become something of a tradition for our crew.  Good stuff ;D

Roger

Not sure if that was what was in the video above since the bus stops at one point and then activates its rear flashers

There are ways to modify the vehicles for special effects. Stopping is easy with a solenoid under the road that activates a reed switch on the bus that shuts it down (see the video on Rick Spano's page--the truck yields to oncoming traffic). Not sure about the lights, but I imagine a microprocessor could do the job as a programmed cycle whenever the bus is stopped.
